I've considered the fact. That's why I don't have Chat Moderators on my friends list. Honestly, why friend people if you're a Chat Moderator unless you know they're not going to bug you unnecessarily. I'll friend Consultants since their main job is to consult and be out there, not stand in the bushes and ban players--though they can do that too--but that's not their main purpose. Regular Players don't mind, forum moderators wouldn't mind much, other than Chat Moderators, there's not many players that would NOT want you to know where they are, they don't care. You're a Chat Moderator, so I understand your point of view. Just make sure all your friends know that unless you speak in chat, do NOT speak to you, as a Chat Moderator. If they ignore, then don't have them as your friend.

I'm not speaking from a point of a chat mod, but of a single player. I value my privacy, and if I'm not in the battle, I don't want to be seen. Or known. Or recognized. As simple as that. And as funny as it sound, mods do not sit in the bushes and ban - as you colorfully portrayed it... most of us play in our free time. And yes, some of us are enjoying their anonymity more than others, especially in the time between battles. So much so, that they even don't want their friends to locate them. For such purposes, they use mobile phones and Internet messengers.

It's funny that I didn't even considered the fact which you brought on - that such an option can be problematic for the members of the staff. I just didn't like the fact that somebody can literally pinpoint where I am. Call me paranoid ;)

By your own friend? What kind of friend is that, that you wouldn't even want to be known your there by your own friend? What if your friend is having doubts in life, and though it sounds weird, just talking with them and letting them know you're their friend, though on cyber, brightens them up. If a friend says "Hi Jonathan" when I'm not chatting and scanning the chat, I say "Hey" back with a smile.

Well thank-you for the complement, I like to colorfully portray things  ^_^ I know that moderators play too, but I thought more often then not they are scanning the chat. Also, from the moderators I've seen, then often don't chat while in battle.

I don't understand why moderators don't want their friends to locate them. In battle, if a friend is bugging you from trying to efficiently playing the game, kindly tell them, "Hey, may you please not chat to me anymore. I'm trying to play hard and get a good score." If you're planning on chatting afterward, or don't have plans and wouldn't mind, tell them "I'll chat with you after this battle" and they'll feel better and usually will leave you alone and play hard themselves--win-win.  If not, ignore that last part. If you're a member of the Staff, you should be kind outside of moderating. :)

Calling you paranoid isn't the complete truth, but not a lie either. You're more than not paranoid ;)

:D

Everyone is different. You want to be located, and that's ok. I do not. That should be ok too  ;)

I just hope we'll have both options.

A good idea, I was just asking why, as a normal player, would you want to not be located? But okay. Putting it as a setting wouldn't be so bad.

ok just trying to explain her viewpoint here.

Put yourself in a mod's shoes for a moment.

People send you hundreds of pm's every day.

You reply to a friend in the server chat.30 strangers start talking to you. You get 100 friend requests from people you don't know.

And about avoiding the friends thing.

Bear in mind that not all of the people in your friends list are actually your friends. Sometimes I accept requests to not be seen as rude(mostly from high ranked guys), then they are people who you are just getting to know. Some of the over eager ones will join every battle you go to,multing and just trying to make conversation every time you get a kill.Remember most of tanki players are immature kids.

All these problems are tripled when you are mod. Everyone wants to be your friend.

I agree with Ostricia that atleast mods should be given the right to some amount of privacy, though knowing about my friend's server no. even when he's not in battle is a good option too.

While it would be useful, it could be an ivasion of privacy and a potential clump of incorrect assumptions would be made. For example, I for one wouldn't completely mind players looking at my friends list. I, however, don't qualify many players on my friends list as my friend. So many friends of mine would wonder "Why do you have this friend or that friend as your friend?" and it may take awhile (and a frustrating while at that) to explain. However, that's a minor example. I just don't see much purpose in this, other than friends invading other friends' personal friends/information on that.

lol, same, the corporals keep inviting me

Yeah, it's really great that as only a staff seargeant, I can't get actual friends to start playing the game because I can't invite lower ranked players to my battles.  Obviously it is a good thing that everyone who wants to play together have to start playing at the same time and keep up with each other.
