I just came across this and thought that this was the first movie:

Yh it is kinda messed up...the producers made the first two Ip Man movies with Donnie Yen (2008 and 2010)...and the last one is the one you found now....which i think was released either in 2011 or 2012....and although the first two are about his peak years as a Grandmaster...the 3rd and last one was about his youth...paradox isn't it!!!  (for some reason Donnie Yen broke his contract and is not the protagonist in last movie)....even so...the actor that plays Yip Man is great too....and you can see actual Yip Man in that last movie (he played the role of another grandmaster of wing chun).

P.S: Watch the 2nd one...it continues from where the 1st movie stops.....3rd movie is whole other story :)

I think the actor did not want to make any more movies related to him. Least that is what I came across somewhere. I doubt you see the actual Yip Man. He passed away a while back (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yip_Man). I think it is his son who appears in the movie.

Thanks for correction Jz...you are right...Yip Man passed away 1972...his son Ip Chun http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ip_Chun  was the one that appeared in 3rd movie. And i think i just read that there's a 4th movie made in 2013....gonna do a lil research now :P

You are welcome. Are you talking about The Underdog Knight: Ip Man?

That one may be the 2nd movie but...no...i saw a title like "Yip Man: The final fight"....still didn't checked it though :)

Ah Wing Chun, very interesting martial art. Specially its lower kicks and chain punches

Yh bro...Wing Chun is nice...we do some wing chun in Shaolin too but....once i wanted to go and see how it is to be in a Wing Chun school....and my impression was that...although it is very cool...it still concentrates to hands fighting too much...and less with lower parts..thus limiting you....and since i don't like any kind of limitation...i stayed with Shaolin..which covers every possible aspect of martial arts...and happily practice till today! :)

Q in the movie Crouching tiger hidden dragon

what is that move/style etc that allows them to seemingly fly?

camera trickery or actual human ability?

No Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is one of those clasical old chinese movies...where they use ropes too  much :P It is true that a great martial artists had great "jumping" abilities but...in those Chinese movies they probably exaggerating a bit

Never actualy witnessed it but my uncle takes it

Go challenge him...you gonna witness some chest pain later on...for some reason Wing Chun guys love to hit you on the damn chest   (Chain punches)

Very Cool style though...gotta admit it!  And Yip Man movies make it look even better!

Yeah they do that because we have too many pressure points in the center of our body so they tend to punch the center, face

Answered like a pro....you're right...never thought it like that!

What are you talking about ...that was the first move I ever learned!!! B)   Exaggerated a bit  :P .......yea just a bit. I have seen my cousin punch a guy in the face and he "flew" about 3 feet back and a foot in the air ( my cousin was 350 lbs + at the time and hit very hard )
