is shaft a great gun to use or have people been telling be that it sucks be cause i was thinking of getting it from m0-m2 on sale should i get it m2 or not

I have it M2, and apart from the glitch, it is awesome. I can one-shot all M1 hulls except for Mammy, and I can easily pick off M2 Hornet, Dict and Hunter. The M1-M2 upgrade is good. The reload is better and the turret rotation is  a lot faster

I would not advise it having just upgraded it - even if they fix the flaw [ slow rotation in sniper mode] you wont get a high D/L score

if you like fast-paced game play and you are impatient don't get it. but otherwise , I would m2 it :)
