So when they remove the update tanki can return to having half the players being gold hunters camping in one place the whole game.  Is this what you want?

No, He is correct. When I play 99% of the battles have Lieutenants and Captains and Majors Playing in it. If i create a battle limiting to a lower rank,  hardly anyone joins the battle and even if someone does the battle fund does not increase much for a gold box.

Please keep in note that the Gold Box falls in random moments. Not according to the fund. It fell after passing a fund of 700 earlier. But after some of the recent updates, Gold Boxes fall randomly.

1. There are a lot of places where the gold normaly fall, so you can simply go to a lonely place and wait...

2. Play with people of your same rank if you wanna get a Gold

If I understood correctly what u mention u want the gold notification to be removed ? Thats insane , its like the best thing that ever happened for all players because it stops them from multing and focus on the game instead of wasting time waiting for gold to drop, and why would anyone not want to be notified before gold drops?
