Terrain

Hello, I was thinking that maybe Tanki Online could start having terrains on some (If not all) of their maps? It would mean that the weight of the hull you choose would have more effect in battle.

For example, in the map Barda, it could be muddy? So Hornet and Wasp would be ideal, fast enough to glide over the mud and not too heavy. Hunter would be quite light and not too slow so it would not be affected that much by the off-road nature of the roads. Dictator would have slower acceleration and general speed and would sink in slightly because it is reasonably heavy. Viking would be used by a very select and skilled few, because of its weight and speed combo. Mammoth and Titan would both be almost completely submerged in mud because their weight would allow them to sink in loads and their speed would not help them stay afloat in any way.

Another example that would not need to be changed is Silence. Silence is very nearly completely industrialised at the moment, so tarmac and concrete roads are the norm in a place like this. There would be just one muddy patch, just below the huge drop between the two sides. This could be made into a muddied area.

Yet another example of somewhere that the terrain could be modified is in the map Canyon. Canyon could be made into a sandy map, with dust clouds being kicked up after driving on the sandy parts. This would make stealth very difficult and would make it harder to see very far ahead. It would, however, have a little affect on speed because weight would make the tank sink ever so slightly into the soft sand. This would also apply to Combe.

All in all, here is a list of which maps should have terrain other than tarmac:

2042 - Dusty in places, mainly tarmac

Barda - Muddy mainly, tarmac in places

Bobruisk - Muddy parts, mainly tarmac

Boombox - Muddy with the centre tarmac

Brest - Tarmac and mud

Bridges - Tarmac and some mud

Canyon - Extremely dusty, with underground parts tarmac

Combe - Dusty

Desert - Dusty

Farm - Dusty, small areas of tarmac

Forest - Very muddy

Garder - Dusty with tarmac

Highlands - Dusty

Highways - Muddy but mainly tarmac

Industrial Zone - Dusty areas, but mostly tarmac

Iran - Very dusty

Island - Reasonably dusty

Kungur - Muddy areas and tarmac

Magadan - Muddy

Magistral - Muddy and tarmac

Massacre - Very dusty

Noise - Dusty

Novel - Dusty

Osa - Muddy

Parma - Muddy and tarmac

Ping-Pong - Dusty

Red Alert - Muddy and tarmac

Sandal - Muddy and tarmac

Sandbox - Muddy and tarmac

Serpuhov - Muddy and tarmac

Silence - Small parts dusty

Skylark - Muddy areas

Solikamsk - Muddy parts

Stadium - Dusty

Station - Very dusty

Wave - Very dusty

Zone - Very dusty

Please take into account that these are based on SUMMER maps only and that Zone is the highest map I can access at the moment.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I wasn't entirely sure where to post this so… If you have any queries, private message me.

Thank you, Cuba.

Lol it will be hard to

Make the update, the debs will have to totally redo all current props and change 3rd prop library, it would also cause lags and make bugs

I agree, but I was thinking they could run it through the test server first and then modify it to make it work? It was just an idea...

All of these are either muddy or dusty. Lel.

Haha, was waiting for someone to point that out and it had to be you DYKT didn't it! :-) Do you want me to give you a long winded calculated walk through of how I decided that? ;-)

@Cuba: Doesn't have to be complicated. Just give me the answer on why it's either Muddy or Dusty. . .don't have to include calculations, etc.

Just saying, could be a snowy terrain, rough/rocky terrain, smooth terrain, grassy terrain, etc. . . .

OK, it cannot be Snowy because as I said CLEARLY at the bottom, this is only for Summer Maps. I did not do Grassy because grass would not affect any tanks… It would only cause extra lags putting that in. Rough/Rocky terrain would not work because all tank tracks in Tanki Online are completely flat and totally inflexible. For smooth terrain, that kind of comes under tarmac… I hope this is the answer yu were looking for but if it isn't, just say so.

I think it's an awesome idea! It seems like you have spent some time thinking this out, and I think the dev team could use this to enhance gameplay in a phenomenal way!

Thank you so much! Your feedback means a lot to me!

Good idea! You could also sink into snow on the snowy maps, and there could even be maps with water in, which heavier tanks sink in, and lighter hulls float in :)

Well your idea is more dynamic. This will make a good update. Imagine mammoth getting drown on mud. And tanks drifting on tarmac. I  suggested about "Water" on map.
