Not sure how a campaign is going to work.

Tanki Online's a game that guarantees that all tanks in battle are driven by real people, on real time. So with that being said, no AI's, or Enemy Tanks in the Tutorial. . .

The best you could do are Quests, Achievements, etc.

Such as:

  1. Eliminate 20 Hunters -> 500 crystals
  2. Eliminate 100 Thunders -> 1,000 Crystals
  3. Eliminate 5 Shafts -> 150 Crystals
  4. Eliminate 10 Railguns -> 100 Crystals
  5. Eliminate a Tank with Mines set up -> 750 Crystals
  6. Die 1,000 Times -> 1,000 Crystals
  7. Self-destruct at least 100 times -> 500 crystals
  8. Gain 10,000 points from healing with Isida -> 1,500 crystals
  9. Destroy 150 tanks with Thunder -> 1,500 crystals
  10. Snipe 250 Tanks with Railgun/Shaft -> 750 crystals

Puh-lease. No. Just No. No, no, no. No, No, NO. Ju-ju-ju-ju-ju-just no. Nope. No way. Please. No. Can we end this discussion now? No. No. NO.

And if you didn't get the message by any chance:

NO

Tanki Online is not a campaign game, it will not be a campaign game, it should never be a campaign game, and if I have anything to say about it, it will never become a campaign game. Quests are bearable, Playing with AIs is borderline, but having a campaign is disastrous. What are you going to do? Try and rescue the lost princess in the castles of Wolfenstein? Bring the much-needed water supplies back from the enemy camp in Desert? Puh-lease. I repeat. NO.

Tanki Online is a multiplayer game. The point of playing it is to be able to play with other people, in a fun environment of simple "Yay-I-won-against-a-real-human" game-styles. The point is to grow skill at a gun in normal gameplay. And not to go running about like a buffoon in some sort of make-believe enemy castle.

Let me cut to the chase. If Tanki began a campaign mode, I would repeatedly facepalm until my head is bruised all over. (That wasn't meant to encourage you, devs.) This is a multiplayer MMOG - not a rescue-the-lost-princess mission.

Surely a legend of Zelda type of game would be fun? ;)

If you want a legend of Zelda type game, go play Legend of Zelda. Enough said. Tanki merging a campaign into this wonderful game would be like McDonalds merging brussel sprouts with their burgers.

Achievements are suitable then?

Achievements have already been partly been added in the game. I don't think they are needed,  but I personally don't think that they will make that large an effect on the game.

It`s possible if done properly & does not in any way spoil the current set up

but it needs to be thought about very carefully otherwise it could turn the game into so many bog standard games out there already.

Why am I only the SECOND person to vote no? Doesn't anyone else think that this would be terrible? If you want a campaign game, go play an RPG. Campaigns would completely not suit the persona of Tanki as an MMO actions sort of thing, and I do not think they would add anything of value to the game whatsoever.

Achievements, on the other hand, might be a good idea - but only really as an added feature. I think the real objectives which lie behind the game are those of improving one's rank, skill and equipment, with the later aims being community based (social events/contests, wars, tournaments). That's what makes the game fun - it's easy to play and get into (so not so much a campaign game), but takes skill to play very well.

(EDIT) Just saw hog's posts - great minds think alike xD

I`m not 100% for it  however see my previous post on this thread & I do agree that any attempt to add campaigns to the game could ruin it

but saying that maybe slight little tweaks could possibly be implemented in some way but they would have to be small to make sure the balance of the traditional game is not interrupted.
