There are no "best combinations."

Any selection by needs requires conformity to one's style of play. To do that, one needs to discern theirs. I have appealed to Tanki to permit/enable some fashion of resale: auction, trade, partial rebate for owned items or whatever their creative minds might conceive. Two ways exist to "learn" what combination(s) might appeal to a player. Buy all, and test. This can be done at lower, less costly levels, though the learning curve will frustrate. Or, one may learn vicariously by closely observing the characteristics of various combinations used by other players, preferably the good ones, in game play.

I note two predominant styles of play. Some are satisfied with the peek 'n' plink methods of sniping from cover. This bores me to tears. Others like me favor hard charging to chase flags and opponents. If one's a sniper, a heavy tank with or without speed serves well. Titan, Dictator and Mammoth example these. Thunder, Ricochet and Rail seem to be preferred for such players. If one likes charging and chasing, speed is life, and weapons that function close in serve better. Viking, Hornet and Dictator qualify, though as with all, they qualify more so at higher (Read costlier) levels up to M3. Weapons serving this style of play include but aren't limited to Isida, Twins, Freeze and even the "lowly" Smoky.

I own lots of stuff at lower levels, but my preferred combination remains M3 Dictator and M3 Isida. I've somewhat leveled up others, and they each have their virtues and vices. That's by my lights. Any other player might prefer different combinations.

To reiterate, two choices exist: park and pop or rush and run. Two acquisition options exist. Spend generously from your pocket or your earnings in game. Exercise an admirable work ethic earning your way up is the other option. As with most good on line games, development comes either of those ways. If you don't care to enrich the developers or you cannot, exercising a work ethic remains your choice. This frustrates the immature and/or impatient. In the US, acronyms abound. NASA marks one example. TANSTAAFL. suggests a more colloquial one. "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch." ;-) Such working demands persistence and patience. If one has none, get your cash out.

My intent in opining on this is to aid the several apparently frustrated folks seeking someone else to make their decisions for them. "What should I buy?" What combination is best?" None can answer well for you. Think for yourself, Mates. As with most advice, this remains worth what you paid to read it. Refunds cheerfully rendered. Har!

Happy play!

Dude, I have seen majors and other high ranking players use m3 wasp and m3 smokey, and typically, they have a lot of points and a 1.00 + ratio.

It's all about skill...

Tommy ss right, it's all about skill. You can take down m3 railguns no proble

Using the smoky. It's all about how you use it.

Mid-range sniping or close-to-mid range run-and-gun; the Smoky IS a good gun, depending on the user. It's got range where the Twin cannon doesn't, a higher fire rate then the Railgun, and a fair amount of power with it's later iterations. (ie, M2 and 3.) But again; it's all user preferences, likes, and dislikes.

Of course there are the best combinations. That doesn't mean these combinations will suit any tanker, you should take into account your style, skill of playing with each gun, etc. To name some:

Wasp + Firebird = the best combination for capturing enemy flags in CTF and for playing DMs on tight maps like e.g. Boombox.

Wasp + Railgun = the best combination for training your skill with Railgun, one of the best combos for playing CTF games on big maps on low ranks.

Hunter or Titan + Twins = the best combinations for playing DMs on low ranks. Later on Viking or Mammoth + Twins.

Dictator + Railgun = cheapass combo for playing without donating a cent.

Dictator or Viking + Isida = great combos for playing against low-rank tankers using supplies.

Hornet + Isida = the most profitable combination of playing CTF games.

Hornet + Freeze = the best combination for secretly caping enemy flags in CTF. Still great in DMs.

Viking + Ricochet = the best combination for forcibly capturing enemy flags and returning friendly flags in CTF.

Viking or Mammoth + Thunder = the best combinations for playing CTF and DM games with Thunder respectively.

Viking or Mammoth + Shaft = the best combinations for playing CTF and DM games with Shaft respectively.

Mammoth + Freeze = the best combination for defending friendly flag in CTF.

Same thing with protective paints.
