what IS general discussion?

i see many topics rudely locked without explanation.

would like some polite clarification as to what can be posted in GD.

Topic get closed for either breaking the rules/making a discussion which already exists elsewhere or should exist elsewhere/pointlessness. So I believe if you make a topic that doesn't fit any of these points, I think it won't be closed.

That's right.

 

If topics don't belong here, they get moved or merged.

 

Anything related to hulls, turrets, maps and gameplay belongs in Gameplay.

 

Everything that doesn't relate to Tanki, like "What's your favorite food?" or "What music do you listen to?" goes to Off topic.

 

Everything else (aside from the obvious things like Team topics or Creativity threads) stay in the general section - cybersport discussion, forum discussion, development, staff, game discussion (but not gameplay) - ranks, chat, rating, layout, interface, bugs and errors, etc. But in general it goes by the rule of thumb - what one mod may leave in the general section, another may move to gameplay... but you don't lose anything from a thread's location, so there is no difference. It just keeps the forum organized.

 

And for the record, threads aren't closed "rudely". We give straight and direct answers because it's to the point, without beating around the bush, and it's more professional. And there is almost always a clear reason attached to the closing of a thread.

Instead of forum we can use this thread to discuss all general discussions, that's the way guess mods of Tanki like lol. 

 

Nobody is going to read 100 pages thread and there are soo many pointless posts in big topics.

That's why you only read the last ones. Why would you read things that are over a year old?

Because they are insteresting sometimes? :3

 

IMO they should move all pointless topics to the archive and a notification given to the user about it. Other useful topics deserving discussion should be kept open for discussion. I'm too lazy to put this on the Ideas and Suggestions tho :3

Interesting topics ARE left open for discussion. There are many topics in this section which already got more than 10 pages. 

However, if a topic doesn't receive any answer for 2 months, we close it and move to archive. Closed topics are moved to archive after 2 months too, so if someone looks at the topics' titles in the last pages in order to search for something, or see what's been discussed, all the recent information can still be found in this section.
