Hi, i have completed almost 5 months in tanki.. i have firebird m1 , isda m1 and rail m1.. & hornet m1 mummy m1..

my best combo is hornet & rail..

i am mainly a defensive player & somtime play attacking. i like the hit & hide policy with rail. or hit & run..

now my question is what gun should i upgrade to m2? bcoz i think like rail m1 rail m2 also take 2 shot to kill opponents..

please advise. Thanks.

Without a doubt, if your best is hornet + rail, continue in that path. Its a very good one to go down, as it will help to make you a better player especially when transferring to other weapons later. Speed of the hornet will allow you to learn dodging and ninja-like skills, while railgun is perfect for kill-stealing, and training you how to improve your accuracy, and never miss. You'll also be able to enjoy 'XP' battles very much to display your skill amongst more experienced players where you can hone your skills even further. Also both M2 rail/hornet unlock very early and are extremely reliable for their fairly cheap prices. Many others would recommend you stick with hornet + rail too.

Next time though, ask in the What to buy - what to use section.

If you don't know what an XP battle is, a recent guide has been written in the newspaper issue 20 here which I think you might find very useful for your style of play.

Good luck! :)

^ Freeze is very useful... but unfortunately it wont improve your skill very much, no where near as much as railgun will. I own Freeze M2, Rail M2, and 7 other M2s, and even if the close range weapons are sometimes effective, no matter what, they bore me to death because they're extremely easy to use after a day or two of practice. I like the fact that ranged weapons have more potential for mastery, and once you do master them, they do not disappoint.

A close friend of mine named Achilles1233 was actually an extremely loyal M2 freeze + hornet/viking user, and since the time he purchased M2 railgun to pair with his M2 hornet for XP battles and even regular battles, he's almost retired from using Freeze because its simply not as fun for him.

Its better to stick with medium-long range weapons as you progress in this game, and then later after you've already mastered the skills needed to best operate the harder weapons to use such as railgun, then you can venture into using close range weaponry because you've already learned how to be good with the other weapons. Honestly the way I see it, using close range weapons for a long time, it somewhat hinders your skill. I speak for many when I say that after using a close range weapon for a long time (months) and not switching to a ranged weapon, they get 'rusty' and have to regain their skills once again with the more difficult weapons.

Another problem with freeze is that you are easily kill-stolen. The railgun can also easily be kill-stolen if you don't know how to use it properly. If you do master kill-stealing though, watching your targets and learning how much damage each one can take, and fire at the most appropriate time, securing a kill every time you shoot, never wasting a bullet, then you can easily hang with the M3 and Generalissimos (though they may not like being kill-stolen by you) and it will keep them on their toes so as not to be humiliated by having a lower score than someone below Major rank.

yea, short ranged get boring to use after a perioud :(

the best is to equip with light hull and be kamikaze

i find boring to equip short ranged weapons with medium and heavy hulls because the enemy can run away from you!

You will never become skilled if you don't commit yourself to practice! Just stick with it, that is the best way of doing it. Perhaps practice with friends in 1v1 situations, it becomes very enjoyable once you know what you're doing. Railgun+Hornet can work in almost any map, but you should try to focus on maps where there is plenty of cover, but also open space. Use cover to its greatest potential, and time your shots at the most beneficial moment. I don't suggest the map Silence for becoming better with railgun. Madness will help for long range accuracy, but I don't really suggest Madness for any weapons mastery... its a bit too chaotic and many people just go there to mess around and have fun.

Good maps for Railgun would be Sandbox, Kungur, Berlin, Highland, Brest, Massacre, Sandal, and other similarly structured maps. Pretty much anyplace which has alot of cover that you can use to your advantage. A very popular technique is the 'Peek-a-boo' trick, where you begin charging up your shot before your opponent can even see your hull, and the split mili-second your turret peaks out from cover, the shot is fired. This will help you in avoiding smoky's impact force, because they will have far less time to react to your shots. If you can use cover and peek-a-boo alot, you can actually maintain some impressive K/D ratios. This is good for you since you're a defender by nature. Never underestimate a railgunner on double power either! Its an extremely valuable supply in comparison to the others when using Railgun. You can easily manage to stay in the top leaderboards in large games full of druggers on both teams, just by using a few double powers and kill-stealing.

As for kill-stealing, I don't recommend focusing on this in a small game... it will decrease your chances of winning. In a big game however, you often play a smaller role in the overall teams efforts, and so kill-stealing is more commonplace, with far less serious side effects. In small games, every shot counts, as does every second. Its usually better to get your shots in where you can get them, focusing on damaging the enemies as much as possible, teamwork being the key. Of course you still want to be patient enough so as not to miss with your railgun since you have a long reload period.

One again though, I really don't suggest Madness for improving skill. Fortknox is another map you may enjoy. Its simple but with very enjoyable gameplay.

-This topic will be closed soon, as soon as a mod sees it. If you have more questions, feel free to PM me, or as I said in my first post here... post in the What to buy - What to use section. There you will get some advice, though unfortunately it seems that many don't take the time to give quality advice there, and give quick 1-2 sentence answers. If you want the best advice, you should seek out skilled players and speak with them in-game, or through the forum personal messenger. I've found this to be a great resource.
