Fake Reports

Hello, it's pauleta48. I am banned for a month (or 80 days, I don't know lol, it says 717 hours and 71 000 minutes...) for insult on family. It's because of a fake screen lol, I never insult a mother. Anyway...

After reading this I realized that the violators system has loopholes in it.

A person skilled at photoshop could easily make a fake screen of someone hacking/scamming/profanity/etc (I know I could do it) 

The person would then be unfairly banned.

 

Moreover after looking through violators I found a topic; http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=190745

In this topic the person in question (super bullet) was not banned due to the low rank of the reporter, and the fact that it was from the arab community.

 

Most likely the screen was a fake, but what if a high rank reported (For example; Me reporting "X" player with a fake screen) ?

 

Then there would be no way to tell the difference between a fake and a real screen.

 

So I am asking the administration about what they are doing about this, or what they propose to do about this.

 

I opened this topic, and not sent a pm to semyon because I believe that this matter concerns everyone in this community, and so everyone should have equal say in the resolution of this problem

I had invited Semyon to investigate a PM between another player and myself. However, the other player had edited the insult messages, and Semyon told us that he could do nothing about it because messages had been repeatedly edited.

I actually have tried this and done it quite easily, meaning anyone could do it. Needs to be a way to report screen shots for sure.

Only problem is we would need a mod/admin on site to confirm the fake

I think anyone found guilty of photoshoping a ban should receive a permanent ban. But that just comes back to the point of controling it.

In fact, you don't even need photoshop. You can use inspect element, e.g.  (below)

No^ Forum violations cannot be faked, due to the fact that all the posts made on the  forum are recorded (even the edited version).

It is only in the game chat, that everything is not recorded.

Also since tanki runs on flash, inspect element won't work. So photoshop is the only way to fake it

All recorded? Huh. Never knew that. I think that he was just using that as an example of how easy it is though. :)

They didn't use their main acc, because if the moderator noticed its fake, he will get a month ban on the account he reported from for faking reports.

This is what our Rules state: 

If a player reporting a violator turns out to be giving false information (slander, forgery or falsifications of the proof) he or she takes full responsibility for this and will be punished by a month ban. In case if the situation repeats, the player gets banned forever.

 

You need to understand that we already know that some tankers might edit screenshots of their report to get other tankers banned unfairly, this is why before banning we run multiple checks over those reports and that's also why it takes a good amount of time to complete all the sent reports.

We take time to be sure we are doing the right thing, always, I assure you.

 

In conclusion, what your friend told you about his/her ban might be false aswell, remember, not everyone is able to admin his/her fault, not even in front of evidences.

It's easy to see if someone edited a screenshot or not, for example just by zooming in you will be able to see most of possible edits since you will see lines that don't match with each others.

Editing the whole Chat window is not as easy as someone can think, even being incredibly accurate you might always miss a little detail that can be detected.
