But then the opposite is happening. My M3 Hornet is getting 2 shot by M2 Railgun much more than M2 Hornet does.

And actually, I get 2 shot more often than not.

Simple. Play with ranks that can't have M3 XP. Also I have a higher account with M3 XP and I agree with you on M3 Hornet being a 3 shot 99% of the time but I can also tell you that M2 hornet is also a 3 shot most of the time

There will always be discrepancies regarding, M2 and M3 in XP/BP. Its just an advantage of higher modification which should encourage M2 players to buy the M3 version in order to compete with the higher ranks.

Railgun m2 deals an average of 900 damage, while the m3 (not upgraded) deals 1058 averagly. Hornet m2 and m3 have 1470 and 1764 hp respectively.

This means, in average, m2 railgun is able to kill m3 hornet in 2 shots. Of course if you are really unlucky you could end up killing it in 4 shots! But most of the times that shouldn't happen. Yet you can't claim your m2 rail to be as powerful as an m3, there's a valuable difference between the two and as Phantom said, you should always aim for m3 equipment.

Unless you are playing battles with micro upgrades enabled, that would explain why you are having so many troubles.

You're still here?! :o

I suggest playing upto the Major General rank so that you don't face M3s in XP/BP. M3 does and has always had an edge against M2s in XP/BP despite the protections issued to M2s.

But the distance between you and the target also affects the damage...

Tell me about it. I'm Xornet M3 with Pailgun M2 :/

No it doesn't. Railgun efficiency is not affected by distance (unlike Smoky or Thunder).

or read the guides. Actually no, the guides are not really clear on this.

The wiki is pretty clear in fact, and any experienced player can tell you about it too.

The turret, while taking an exorbitant amount of time to load and a one second delay after hitting the spacebar, is capable of doling out high amounts of damage at infinite range.

Ah but Smoky's critical isn't affected by range either right? I guess they changed that back to how it was used to be like when the critical hit feature came out. mine deals 700 damage at all ranges.

I like that.

Yes, you're right Smoky critical feature is not affected by distance anymore, only the standard damage.

I'm afraid this is far from being clear, it does not stipulate clearly the lack of influence of the distance and it fail to explain the randomized damage value that follow the bell curve. Both are important information that any new player will never notice before long and only after some test.

It doesnt not stilupate it clearly because there's nothing to say. Playing in gigantic maps such as stadium, highways or even madness can give you quite a hint that you deal exactly the same damage, no matter the distance. After all, the graphic effect of the railgun suggests that too: instead of disappearing, or losing brightness at a certain point, the laser travels infinite distance till outside of the map.

A simple test is to take a fully upgraded m4 railgun (100% penetration) and shoot some wasps aligned in front of you at different distances. They will all get destroyed and the damage marker will show values between those written in the garage description.

"It does not stipulate it clearly" then the wiki fail at its main purpose. The wiki mission is to inform in a clear way at a level that it is easy to understand by any player (new and experienced).

"because there's nothing to say." like the inanity that follows in a attempt to justify the first statement: "hint", "suggest" & "test".

So no the current page is not clear and incomplete in the current stage.

I have a question:

m3 rail always 2 shots my m2 hornet in xp/bp
If hornet m2 has 24% protection, which makes it 1934 armour.
hornet m3 has 1764.

So does m3 rail always 2 shot m3 hornet too?

Note: 99% of time, hornet m2 is 2 shot for rail m3 from my experience.
But ideally it should have more protection than hornet m3, which should imply that hornet m3 is also 99% times 2 shot by rail m3.
But that cant be true? or is it?

No, rail m2 does not 2 shot hornet m3 80% of the time. Edited by Hate

Used to be like this but in my case, when I'm playing XP battles, 50% of the time I get 2-shot by M2 Rails. I don't even think it is 50% of the time, if not less. I don't know if that is only me or not but that is how it is in case these days.

I am still noob in XP/BP :(

But I can play Polygon CP very nicely. I often place 1st in it because I always be on point even my K/d in going below 0.50. :P

It takes a lot of time.. and the true learning starts, once you don't have to focus on the aiming any more, but when it comes natural and you can focus on what is around you.

I'm still a noob too :p

If you like some easier battles, you can practice in EN2, there are a few Sandbox XP/BP battles each eavening. Although you might have a reduced choice of battles of legend is your only rank

Can anybody who has an account around the Captain to Brigadier rank please tell me if you see Polygon m2 XP/BP games on EU1?

If yes, at what time UTC and do they happen everyday?

I'm considering buying Tornado kit for my WO4 account, but I'm not sure if we still have battles for only m2 xp/bp.

My other account is at General, so I can't see battles for the ranks between Brigadier and Captain.

Yes. There are endless ones, always at least 1 there. No matter what time or what day.

Can you tell me the rank brackets for these please?

I don't want m3 rails in the battle.

Since people consider low rankers as Mults and their equipment (m2) to be bad, there aren't many battles, although there are several sandbox battles with captain to brigadier rank brackets and a few polygon CP XP/BP with a preferably larger rank bracket.

Tornado is good at a rank of WO4, I bought m2 XP at captain and it was great.
