Team Battles

I do not understand why people play in team battles so much. I have played DM for pretty much my whole Tanki career, and I only resort to CTF under ideal conditions.

Reasons why I don't like team battles:

  • Mults/Sabotage - Why else is the game violator's section filled up with topics like "sabotage - player", "player - multing", etc? And I'm pretty sure no one wants to waste time by opening up a screen capture device in the middle of a battle
  • Players with insufficient combos - Lieutenants with M0s. Majors with M1s. Generals with M2s. The most hated kind of players out there. Nothing more hindering than these kind of people. Worst of all, as long as they're playing, they can't get banned
  • Team Kick - "Second place. Drugging. Capping flags. Carrying the team... At your teammates' request, you have been removed from the battle". Seems like I don't see enough of this in the forum.
  • Uneven battle fund - It's pretty much a winner takes all. In DM, it is a lot more evenly split.
  • Few battles with ideal ranks - Over half of the CTFs I can play in are Generalissimos. I don't play in them because I currently do not own a M3 combo.

Reasons why DM > CTF, TDM, CP:

  • Mults/Sabotage is allowed - Multing is 100% welcomed in DM. It's pretty much free kills. And since there are no alliances, you can push tanks as much as you want.
  • Players with insufficient combos - Pretty self explanatory. A lot easier to kill.
  • Even battle fund - If there are no druggers, everyone will get a fair share of crystals. Also, you do not need to get 1st place to get a nice reward.
  • Easier to catch gold - A lot of DM battles are Polygon, and in Poly, you can almost always see where the GB falls, unlike maps like Silence

I hope you are now convinced to play DM more hhh

I really don't like team battles, I mostly like to depends on my own skills by my own self, but I have no choice BUT to go team battles knowing no one will hardly every create them and whenever I try to make them, no one join. Plus team battles are mostly the only arenas made nowadays.

You can still get a good reward, even if there are druggers. Not like there aren't as many druggers in CTF

they are so many more reasons to drug in dm for one your by yourself unlike ctf where you have team mates and also you want a bigger piece of the battle fund. and also you are less likely to find a no supplies DM

Look for "Chillin n Killin" DM battles my friends and I have been playing daly in Desert...lots of fun and many differing combos. The rails like to hang out on the edges and the Thunders are everywhere with the freezers, flamers, Isaidas and twins clashing in the middle.

Good times folks ...come and get blasted  :P

There are a lot of DM battles up to Brigadier, you know

All reasons considered I honestly find DM's boring. Crystals and a good rating are'nt everything you know.

The high you get when you are carrying the enemy's flag back to the base, the hold up situation when both teams have taken their enemy's flag etc. are enough reasons for me to play ctf again and again. Though I agree with all of your above mentioned points and 8 out of 10 battles are spoiled due to these factors but those 2 ctf's in which teams of equal players wrest all their skill tp make their team win are truely worth participating in. And even if my team loses, it does'nt matter much.

I hate dms.iv got 3000 cry from being 5 place in a CTF,and 2000 from a TDM,but I only get like 4 cry from a DM.and I lose more points that way also.and im using m1 against m0 in most DMs im in.i think DMs are rubbish, but if you like them, then go play as many as you want.

Forgot one advantage of DM's. Higher funds. What I've realized is that in a DM, the fund grows about 50% quicker. In a CTF, get one kill, 1-3 crystals. DM, 2-4 crystals( At 3rd Lt). Get higher and higher. Also in CTF, if you get one flag the fund doesn't raise that much. Better for xp though, not crystals.

This is a good topic. :) I found it very interesting. Though at the same time while I agree with you about DMs, I'd like to come to the defense of CTFs and why people play them so much.

First of all for me, I play Tanki Online for entertainment purposes. And among the 4 different game modes, (CTF, TDM, DM, and CP) I find that CTFs offer the most entertainment. I feel there are more levels to the gameplay of CTFs than there are for the others. Strategy is most definitely required with this mode. Teamwork is necessary in order to succeed in these formats, unless you have an endless amount of drugs to throw away.

If you think back to when you first played Tanki, it seemed like everyone that was playing in CTFs were "one-man showing" it. Nobody really helped each other. Teammates wouldn't have any chemistry. If you had the flag, rather than helping you or at least get out of your way, your teammates would sometimes purposely get in your way, in order to prevent you from capturing the flag for their own selfish needs. Isidas would rather attack than heal. And above all, rewards weren't even justifying drugging a couple times per game. If this was the type of gameplay you were talking about, then I fully understand why you wouldn't like CTFs.

But as our abilities matured and we eventually came to the realization that in order to win, helping each other was necessary, I find that the gameplay is so much more satisfying. Especially when you play with friends. Though CTFs are still plagued by sabotage, multing and pointless team kicks, when I find a good battle in which we're all on board, my gaming experience is so much better than DMs. Most of the time to me it feels I'm just hoping to be the lucky guy to get the final hp damage to bring him to 0. Especially now when everyone's fully engaged and rarely out range.

From a crystal making standpoint, I'd side with DMs, but when it comes to gameplay, I stand by my CTFs.
