I have to use WASD because my left arrow key broke. I didn't hard time controlling it because I play Minecraft/Counter Strike with WASD.

It is simply the most used key combination in PC games.

In First Person Shooters and many other games WASD combines very nicely with the mouse in your right hand.

Nothing extreme about that! :D

Nice, how you are able to make complete shifts of the key combinations!

And in the last case: ofcourse it 's perfectly allowed to make some sacrifices for such a tasty sammich... :)

That's no sacrifice...

Just curious, because most Tankers use the Arrow keys I suppose?

Started with the Arrow keys also because first I was unaware of the alternative WASD in Tanki.

I already played and play some PC-games with WASD and I believe it 's more the standard in PC games.

So I decided very early to switch to WASD: which was quite hard for a while and

probably very funny and rewarding for my opponents!

Glad I did it though, because I am really glad with the closely grouped keycombinations I use now.

I do not have to "travel" anymore along the keyboard:

For the turret I use < > with my righthand.

When using the cameraview I simultaneously rotate the turret and get a good overview of the battlefield.

For the tank itself I use WASD and for the cameraview QE with my lefthand.

Ringfinger A+Q, Middlefinger W+S and Indexfinger D+E

At Goldbox time I just push simultaneously the 2,3 and 4 with the same three fingers.

Also those "drug keys" are at close reach.

What do you use and why does it work well for you?

I use the WASD as well. . . it feels more natural to me for a few reasons. Besides the ones stated above, when I use WASD, I feel more in a natural typing position. Also, All the drugs, camera view, etc. keys are closer. The other reason is that since I use a mac, the arrow keys are ANNOYINGLY SMALL!!! All in all, WASD just feels much more natural to me.

Left hand: Ringfinger - A (turn left) and Q (camera zoom out) and drug 1 (health)

Middlefinger - W(move forward), S(move backwards) and all the drugs on 2 (armor) and 3 (double power).

Indexfinger - D (turn left) and drugs 4(speed) and 5(mines).

THUMBS ARE ALWAYS ON SPACE BAR!!!!

Right hand: Indexfinger - < (turret left)

                 Middlefinger - > (turret right)

                 Ringfinger - ? (turret center)

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ THIS!!! IT IS NOT SPAM, BUT IT IS COMING FROM A NOOB!!!

Your hands are indeed almost in the natural typing position this way, what does feel relaxed!

It 's also a very nice starting point for a ten finger typing (battle)chat.

I agree. Completely.

BTW I know this is off topic, but what does it mean when in forums people say, " I agree, +3" or "-3" or any number. Are they voting or what?

This is my layout (thanks for the idea SpiderPig):

Red: left hand

Blue: right hand

The most used controls are outlined, less used controls have a tiny circle on them.
