Define poem: a piece of writing in which the expression of feelings and ideas is given intensity by particular attention to diction (sometimes involving rhyme), rhythm, and imagery.

why do we have poems?We need poetry to rise above the prosaic facts of life. What would the world be like without art: music, painting, sculpture, literature? Without the urge to create, the human species would soon grow obsolete. Also Poetry is costly. It is a great expensive life. It defines a blue sky and a swimming pool, a wheat field and a barn, a farm, and the poet, a farmer. Crops.

Starving blighted people feed on poems, the famines of these souls given poem as aid. These crops are struggles that found enlightenment, frills for friends, and cool so made.

Theater and fantasy, fiction and flow, poetry as close as the Holy Ghost. Dole. Wherever the flow goes, it flows like a line of verse.

Poetry for soul, poetry for role, poetry for double soul. Poetry in motion, poetry in discovery, poetry in mystery, poetry as life.

what do you think?

a family poem:

Just as the earth goes through seasons, so does a family in the course of time endure seasons. Marriage, falling in love and the birth of a child are times of renewal like spring. Long pleasant periods of calm that some families are blessed to have are like the feeling of an endless summer. As we and our children grow older, our leaves start to change. We start to experience Autumn. This may seem like dying but it is really only signs of a new phase of life. The times of crises and hardship are times for the family to stay close together, help each other out and endure what are sometimes the frigid winds of change. This period is akin to winter. Life is full of seasons and changes which are best experienced with the support of friends and family.

Thank you poem :

Saying thank you may be the two hardest words that friends share. We like to see ourselves as independent and not needing anyone's help. When a friend does something for us, it is difficult to humble ourselves by thanking them. Believe it or not, as strong as your need is to believe yourself independent, your friend may have an even stronger needed to hear the words "thank you". Your friend will appreciate that he is also a contributor to the friendship.Saying thank you can be a difficult thing to do. Doing so means admitting that you are in another's debt. I am admitting that another individual did something for me. I am not all powerful; I need the help of others to survive. The reality is that the human race is interdependent. We cannot live life alone. We are constantly relying on each other for all kinds of resources, both physical and emotional. When I say thank you I am acknowledging that I have received something from another human being.

Define acrostic poem:

An acrostic poem is a poem where certain letters in each line spells out a word or phrase. Typically, the first letters of a line are used to spell the message; but, they can appear anywhere.

Example

Hockey

Hockey is my favorite sport

On the ice or street
Cool and fun
Keep on playing
Exercise and stronger

Another poem:

It was like the misery endured by an old man

Who has lived to see his son’s body

Swing on the gallows. He begins to keen

And weep for his boy, watching the raven

Gloat where he hangs; he can be of no help.

The wisdom of age is worthless to him.

Morning after morning, he wakes to remember

That his child is gone; he has no interest

In living on until another heir

Is born in the hall…

Alone with his longing, he lies down on his bed

And sings a lament; everything seems too large,

The steadiness and the fields.

Don't think im all soft because  im writing this! xD  :)  :)

Roses are empty

Violets are bowls

Sugar is red

And so is someone's head

But the violets are sweet-ing

The roses are screaming

The sugar is jealous

And so is the brown sugar

This poem doesn't rhyme

This doesn't make sense

But in one way or another

You are laughing

Now pretending like you are not

Now looking forward to insult me

Now getting confident in doing so

Garlic bread

:lol:

Roses are red

Violets are blue

why is this starter

so overused?

Short and snappy ;)

I have liked poetry for a while but i personally enjoy listening or reading ones that rhyme, it sounds like  poem rather than a piece of text.

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Faces like yours belong in a zoo

But don't worry - I'll be there too

Not in a cage, but laughing at you

There was a roaring in the wind all night;

The rain came heavily and fell in floods;

But now the sun is rising calm and bright;

The birds are singing in the distant woods;

The Jay makes answer as the Magpie chatters;

And all the air is filled with pleasant noise of waters.

All things that love the sun are out of doors;

The sky rejoices in the morning's birth;

The hare is running races in her mirth;

And with her feet she from the plashy earth;

Raises a mist,that,glittering in the sun,

Runs with her all the way,wherever she runs.
