Can't burn people with Alien

I'm using Fire M2, and I can't burn anyone with Hornet M1 and Alien. It works fine against Viking M1 + Alien, and against everybody else, but it just ain't working against fire m1 + hornet m1 and isida m1 + hornet m1, both with alien. I'm pretty sure this either has something to do with Alien, or hornet m1. 

EDIT: I also can't burn people with Sandstone... but I can kill them, yet they don't burn. I'm basically using a sucky freeze, because I do less damage per second and I don't have burn.

Also can't burn people with Swash, those are the only paints I can't burn.

When the after-burn of fire kicks in on Alien paint, by it's beauty and unique colour, it doesn't look like it's burning(sometimes).

There's a difference, when it's burning, Alien becomes much darker. It didn't change colors, and I was actually burned down by him.
