The Canadian National Vimy Memorial is a memorial site in France dedicated to the memory of Canadian Expeditionary Force members killed during the First World War. It also serves as the place of commemoration for First World War Canadian soldiers killed or presumed dead in France who have no known grave. The monument is the centrepiece of a 100-hectare (250-acre) preserved battlefield park that encompasses a portion of the ground over which the Canadian Corps made their assault during the Battle of Vimy Ridge, a military engagement fought as part of the Battle of Arras.

i heard there`s a group heading out to Vim-my Ridge in 2017 are you guys part of it...??

my kids and husband belong to girl guides and scouts

the only way we would go is if our corps CO deemed it a good idea, it would probably cost a load of money too, as we are funded by doners, we actually went years ago, so... we'll see :P also why don't your son and daughter just go into scouts Canada xD

oh yeah Vimy ridge, the monument has all the soldier missing presumed dead. Its the only Canadian part in France :P

I had to learn that from school lol

Also;

Tomorrow is the big day! November 11th!

Rumours(or Rumors for them 'Murcans) saying that that they might make a law saying that November 11th can be a national holiday. Don't you agree?

I'm wearing a poppy as I type :P

kkkkk3157   when i was your age it was a holiday but we found that most parents who took the day off never went to the services this is why your back in school and not a Holiday ..in a way i agree ..if you stayed home how many really would go...??

hhgb..i wish i could have gone i have gone many times over the years but this year i knew i could not walk or stand longer then 10 min due to back inquiry's and no i don`t have a wheel chair.. i don`t feel i have the rights to sit when these guys spend hours and hours in rain / cold weather and other stuff that.. i have no rights to complain for anything..the other reason is my son was home sick again this week from school with a head cold..he was home all last week and now today..anyways thank you for the ones who did pay there respects ...you set a good example for others...
