ok, so maybe i lied... idk why im stilll here

anyways i just made this topic because i hate it when people say "soccer"... it makes it sound like its inferior or something. i live + grew up in the usa, but i still call it football. here in the states, football is actually not that popular. people play it a lot, but less than 10% of people in my school know who Gareth Bale is.

Also, I was wondering what you English people think of "American Football"... I think its kinda lame, since it's only played inthe US..

Americans want to change the name of something, then pretend like they invented it.

Football--> Soccer

Rugby--> Change a couple of rules---> American football

You know how americans are.they steal stuff of different places,Latin words related to english words,greek structures related to government structures, etc

well you use your foot, to kick the ball. It's our sport, our name so idk why some choose to call it something else.

I don't find it offensive,more irritating because if we called American football "goodles" or something we would be flogged.

The word "soccer" was invented in England, when students living in the Oxford/Cambridge area called association football 'soccer' and rugby football 'rugger'. One of the words stuck, and became popular in America...
