Let's Discuss Mults and Saboteurs !

I have a question that may seem a bit silly to ask here, but... What exactly is a "mult"? It doesn't look like there is a clear definition, and I wonder how many of them i have met in a match.

If you ha read the first post in this topic you would know exactly what we are talking about.

The Best Way to Against Mults is Multing itself,

1. make sure you have more friends in game

(which are same ranks as you, so can enter same rank battle)

2. invite friends to join the enemy team if you have a mult problem in game,

so your friends on enemy side can kill that multing "teammate" for your team.

help each other against mult, since your friends is actually make killing, so your friend is not a mult technically, but your friends should focus on killing that mult only, and with saying "I am here to kill mults",

so your teammates should not kill that "Helper" in enemy side.

3. The enemy choose to mult are always weak team, and always have free slot for your "Mult killer friend" to join in.

solution solve.

Make Friends, and We are the only people that can help each other.

I agree we need to do something, see my posts in the other threads for what I have been doing.

My problem is that there seems to be no reaction when I report someone, like there are no mods listening?

So what good is videoing them, taking screen captures, etc. I've just caught about 12 tonight alone cheating. That is a lot of work for me to compile all that video and screen caps, then upload them, then post about them, only for there to be insufficient proof. They have learned how far they can go without the mods stepping in.

Perhaps instead of bans, they could be downgraded in equipment, rank, crystals or whatever? A bit like being "reduced in the ranks" in a real Army? Having to play for 6 months in a basic tank will really teach them a lesson - ASSUMING they don't cheat and try to buy a better turret or tank. They would need to be LOCKED into whatever punishment is deemed necessary.

Swede1 I am TOTALLY in agreement with you, they are getting away with driving people away from the game. I have watched the video and I saw how Tanki have faced serious threats to the game in the past and have bounced back, I hope they can do something about this latest one, because I am close to quitting after about one month of playing the game.

The only thing is, that I realize they are probably working hard to get on top of this, and they need to. Why buy crystals when you can just cheat?

I realize that I must be twice as skillful as they are, since I am just about winning most one-on-one fights now and I DON'T EVEN CHEAT! If we can win as many battles as we do, against so many cheats, then we must have more skill than they are ever going to have.

I am also a little concerned about, how do I phrase this delicately? - "Cultural differences"? between players. An awful lot of players from one particular country seem to not only cheat all the time, but do not see anything wrong with it either. I guess it must be more acceptable there. Recently I was in a parkour game and several players, all clearly good friends came en masse into it and started destroying everyone in sight. It sickened me as one player, who sounded quite young, possibly a girl and I think she was from Sweden, kept asking again and again, plaintively "Why they killing us?". I tried stopping them, but the leader had a tank that completely outclassed mine and I could not stop him - But I tried many times. He mocked me in chat for asking him to stop and kept calling one of more of the players "b****" (a sexually degrading term for a female dog). I think it was aimed at the young girl, but I could not be sure, as I was busy trying to use the /vote command on as many as I could, while trying to stop them from attacking the others - And then the battle ended before I could record anything. Now it seemed to be fun for them, and I suspect that violence is quite common and accepted in their country, but if the girl was from somewhere like Sweden, then no wonder she did not understand them enjoying destroying everything on them.

I think they all left when the game ended and so did I, sick that I did all I could to help, but ultimately powerless to stop the wreckers and having to see the original players getting very upset. I did all I could think of a the time, but does anyone else on here know of anything else that I could do if something like that happens again?

Yes, I'm getting tired of playing TO frankly, as are many of my friends because of this.  We've been calling them alts but mult is a good a term as any.  Frankly TankiOnline is getting a lousy reputation here in the US as many of us are just finding out about it and bringing friends in and they're immediately seeing the massed cheating taking place on the servers with mults and are like ehh... pass, looks fun but I've heard it's got a lot of fixed games on it and it's hard to argue that point with them really.

I've played two games with friends today and both times we had multiple mult accounts on our side just sitting idle.  Large battle funds just attract these leeches and the answer isn't to only play small battles, I had it happen four days ago in a 6v6 battle, 2 players were mults, then 3 when one on our side realized it and left.  The players using the mults just laughed at us when confronted.  They don't care, they have multiple mult accounts and just rotate among them.  "one day, who care, have many accts, go record axaxax" so yeah.... reporting them sadly does little so they don't fear being reported at all.  We use to report them but it's seriously not worth the effort for the penalty they receive, so it's almost a why bother now item.  As a result we're playing TO less and other games more and more, WoT is actually pretty decent after you rank up a bit.

I mean seriously your requirements for reporting people are just crazy.  _5_ minutes of video sitting watching a tank you have to keep finding over and over as it gets killed and you get killed finding it, for a tank that does absolutely nothing in the middle of a game except bump every so often so it doesn't go inactive, while getting killed yourself over and over as you try to record it sitting there, which effectively takes _2_ players out of the game on your side to result in all of a one day ban.  Geez... get real, is the goal there to _help_ the mult players by taking another active tank out of the battle on the other side as well?   Seriously when you say video is less than 5 minutes of offense so not enough proof... really? 1 kill and 89 losses and oh sorry video wasn't 5 minutes long so no action taken, right...... well that's useful (not), no wonder why they laugh, you taking 5 minutes of time to record them sitting there just means it's easier for them to win.

So yes, I'd expect to see more and more mults given this and that's what's been occurring over the last month or so I'm noticing.  It's just getting worse and I'm seeing it more and more often, so are the friends I play with, or use to play with as is the case with several of them now.  I suspect other people/groups/clans are just resorting to it since it's being done to them so often.and the penalty is so small.

Olfen, you put into words so well, what I am finding I am feeling myself already - I'm quite new, only found Tanki a month ago and I find I'm playing it less and less now. The fun just is not there.

For example, today I reported perhaps a dozen or so players. One game had 17 out of 19 players leave when I said I had reported one and was going to report all cheating. How much cheating is going on then? This was not a team game either. Just now again I got a barrage of obscenities for saying in chat that I had reported one player for being a cheat. Oddly the game got MUCH easier when I stopped the cheat doing that. Most were using unnatural speed and also entering and leaving instantly, with no 10 second waits to self destruct. Not only that, but again when I was destroying another player, it was coming up as them "self-destructing".

So I believe I've been cheated of perhaps 200,000 crystals in one month alone. What is the point in playing? thankfully I have not dragged any friends in to the game, or I would be ashamed of the way they are being treated. Instead I have had to start warning my friends to avoid it like this. I think it will improve in time, but I just hope it can survive until it can sort out the cheats, I don't think I will.

Mults and saboteurs are easy to find I can scroll games in any server and easily see which battles have cheating occurring to give the opponents victory, almost every takeover has mults in the opposing team, inactive, running with weakest equipment and no paints, ignoring the battle when obviously help is needed, doing the minimum to make recording their actions difficult, simply put, anyone can see what is going on if they are looking, and with the ability of spec and the tools to remove players from the battle, it should be easy to clean up the vast majority of games going on.

This is not a random occurrence, the players who are doing this are not random players, they are groups of players and the same ones are seen doing this over and over on a daily basis. The more this occurs and the lack of firm action is breeding  a new type of player that sees this as the only option left for them to use if they are to succeed in this game, thus the problem is going to explode exponentially.

I often copy the names of suspected mults and search tanki forums and the vast majority come up over and over in violator sections of the RU, EN and DE forums, often with the same consequences, "sorry not enough proof to 100% confirm that he was multing, or you need more proof with a link to "how to take a vid" and even the one caught are often right back at it even with several bans under their belt.

Very informative. I appreciate your research. Unfortunately, as you said in your topic yourself, what we require is solid evidence.

and that's the rub there... solid evidence.  So we have to spend our game time, sitting around idly recording other tanks sitting around idle which they then get back in one day, assuming that they're banned at all.  Not much of a return for the investment on the players part there.

I played a Seraphov earlier today where mults starting showing up again.  Is it worth it to me as a player to sit back and record the 5 we had total, of 10 players, with a _minimum_ of 5 minutes of video each?, although frankly they seem to want longer timed video for reporting.  So I have to spend well over 1/2 hour, recording, saving, processing, uploading videos, probably more like an hour total to get it all tidy, uploaded, reports made, of which some may or may not even be punished because they might go active for say 1 kill in that 5 minutes versus their 60+ deaths in the previous 10 minutes they've been idle and otherwise sit and do nothing else to help my team as more mults get added to the game?  Assuming that they are punished, which isn't always the case, and oh boo-hoo, they lose a mult for all of one day?  Gee.. I wonder why people feel they can use mults and get away it so brazenly given the _dire_ (not) consequences....

If it was one player actively hacking the game I would gladly spent my time doing the work required to help catch the individual and have actually worked with others on a couple of occasions to help get the hackers to show off "how cool they were", lol, so they could be recorded, so they could be banned.  In those cases I've noticed those people tend to be permanently banned so the reward is definitely worth the amount of time and effort involved to record and catch them.  Especially true at the higher ranks where it's cost them some time time to level up their tanks.  That's not the case with the idle mults though as the actual ban isn't even an inconvenience to them.  If you doubt that it's an inconvenience to them, you have only to look at the fact that it's a growing trend in the game from the increasing number of people reporting/complaining about it and the resulting increase in forum threads on the topic.

I can understand the TO developers issues here on what/how to respond but frankly this is costing them real rubles, marks, dollars, etc... and they do need to respond, especially since the game is growing in popularity and a bad reputation for cheating now would hurt them significantly without some type of response to it.  To many groups are mult spamming games with large crystal funds and the mults owners are grabbing 10+, 20+, 30+ crystal funds while the rest of us pay for our upgrades and the occasional supply purchase with real dollars, where the mults owners have learned how to openly manipulate the game economics so they don't have to pay for their upgrades and supplies.  In the short term this helps the TO bottom line because people will initially spend their resources to fight the cheaters, but it's a short term gain as the people spending real dollars shortly go ehh..., time for another game, tired of spending real money on fighting cheaters. If you doubt that look at Kixeye, hahahaha, in 2012 they were the king rolling in 100+million, CEO was the talk of the town, going to take down Zygna, then they ignored the hacking/cheating in their games and now they're not even in the top 100 on the FB game list as people moved on to other games.  I know TO had it's own hacking/cheating issues and resolved it at some time in the past.  Hopefully they will do so again since once people move on to new games, they become invested there and rarely come back again.

I have been involved in the New-Team Kick idea. You can read the details over in that topic. It takes care of a lot of issues to do with players and their lack of playing for the team they joined.
However I have been thinking about what is causing the majority of the problems. I think the blue boxes cause a really big problem. Many people only join battles to grab crystals. I also see a very large number of players complaining about supplies users as well. I have been trying to think of a way to combat these issues. One idea I had was to rearrange some the battle creation options and default settings.

  • Remove the PRO Battle option, and make game parameters available to all. Players would be able to create the battles anyway they want with out having to pay to do it.
  • Have the blue boxes and supplies turned off by default. (This is only an idea. If the default was left as is, those that want would still be able to turn these off at battle creation time.)
  • Add a Parkour and Training mode. In this mode no damage is done to your health but the effects of being hit are the same. Basically the damage of your turret is turned off but the bunch is not.
  • Add the ability to select which hulls, turrets, and paints are allowed in a battle. This would satisfy the XP guys/gals.

Additionally I would suggest limiting the number of times you can enter the garage and use pause. Maybe only once for either every 15 minutes. I see people (I was going to say players but they are not playing LOL) using this feature as a way to sabotage and mult. They enter the garage and wait for the system to boot them back to the game and they go straight back to the garage. They do the same with pause. Doing this cuts down on there deaths as well.

As for blue boxes, they are a big source of "income" for many players, but this creates the problem of people only being concerned about collecting them and not thinking about team mates. Should there be a limit on when and how many you can grab? Maybe just eliminate them all together and reward players 1 crystal per point they have earned when they leave the battle. This would be separate from the battle fund. That way a player is still encouraged to stay and help win the battle to get even more crystals.  Pay for work, not scavenging.

/vote needs some work as well. I think they should add a clickable "REPORT"  icon. Once you click the button a separate window opens where you can select the players name and reason for the report from a list.  The listed items could be.

  • hacker
  • mult
  • profanity
  • saboteur

This would be easier then trying to get the spelling of a players name right, also when a mod comes to check on the battle, he or she already knows why they are there. It would make the system a lot more effective.  /vote is not very user friendly or effective in it's  current state.

Another idea to help eliminate people having so many accounts is to make it mandatory to supply an e-mail to sign up and limit the number of accounts per E-mail. If a ban is issued, ban all accounts linked to that e-mail.

when the proof is not enough; not at par, doesn't meet standards of which a ban is warranted, doesn't accurately pin the player as a violator (not 100%), you know what I mean. Nothing can be done.

That makes sense. "Innocent until proven guilty". With that logic (and it is correct logic), mults can't be banned, yet it also guarantees that the actual bad players in a team don't get an unfair ban for false accusations for multing, which is good. One thing that needs to be done is some sort of division between high skill and low skill players. For example limited access to certain battles for players with bad stats, although I'm not sure how that would work out.

2. invite friends to join the enemy team if you have a mult problem in game,

so your friends on enemy side can kill that multing "teammate" for your team.

3. The enemy choose to mult are always weak team, and always have free slot for your "Mult killer friend" to join in.

That won't work. "Грабители", a.k.a. "robbers" are usually a very organised group of players. They find a suitable battle and gradually fill up the enemy team with their own players, while you don't suspect a thing. Then they start the robbery and throw mults into your team. At this point you won't be able to have your friend be the "mult-killer" in the enemy team because the enemy team is already full and no-one is leaving. So basically, you can't do anything...

__________________________________________

What you can and SHOULD do though is not play long battles. The only good way to avoid getting strategically robbed. Create a battle of your own liking, set a time limit and on a rare map, which is not a usual target for robberies. Or even better - play PRO battles with friends, create a club where a group of adequate people join everyday and play private battles together. That guarantees you a pleasant game.

P.S. To get people to fill in a rare map, create the battle just after restart on the first server. If your battle is first in the list, people will go in no matter what.  ;)

Very true, the "robbers" are generally a well organized group, I've seen to many games taken over by them and frankly it's getting worse as the groups are obviously getting better and more efficient at taking over high value games (ie those with large crystal funds).  I just finished a Lost Temple CTF that was taken over by a group.  It took about 20-30 minutes but eventually they had 6/7 of the 16 slots on my team taken over by mults, completely idle tanks that just bumped every so often or took a random shot, it was hard to spot at first because they all racked up a few  kills and then went silent although one tank, maZZill just sat there for 1/2 hour and never killed a single enemy or even moved that I saw.  I was chatting with a friend and we started noticing the trend when we had 4 tanks sitting in spawn points doing nothing, the enemy didn't even shoot at them as they came in, lol, so yeah...  Pretty much proof that they're figuring out how to add mults and avoid getting them banned for the most part.  I'd say as well as being organized enough to not even bother shooting their known mult units which was sort of funny.  If they're taking the time to do a couple of quick kills with the mults first on them to make them look active, they know how to keep the tanks from getting banned.  It's a shame when you've put in over two hours of game play, go from a 52-22 lead to a 55-60 loss because almost 1/2 the tanks on your side, aren't on your side anymore.  The red team was leaving so there were even open spots for them to show up and fill in.  They mined and supplied constantly in what was a fairly well balanced game in terms of drugging until then but with almost 1/2 our slots filled up, it quickly became a rout with no chance for us.  Sadly I'm impressed we managed to snag 3 more flags before they won... sigh... I'm not one really against supplying, you get free supplies every day so it's just a part of the game and I was supplying at first to fight them but when 1/2 your tanks aren't fighting, much less supplying, a 2:1 battle is just a losing proposition as you just don't have the tanks to cover the needed ground.

As I've mentioned before it's not only a matter of game play for others but blatant manipulation of the games economics as well which only encourages them.  This will continue to only get worse as time goes along.  Eventually they'll be selling their mults off at Generalissimo level and have a business in the real world, like many games do, where you can buy a high level player and avoid that whole leveling thing.  Selling high level tanks for real money isn't bad at all when it doesn't cost you anything to get there and you can offer them a choice of weapons because all your crystals have been free since you're manipulating the game economics by robbing games.  Don't even bother protesting that it's against the game rules to sell accounts, it's against all the games rules to sell items/accounts and yet it's an ongoing profitable business for many, look at EveOnline, WoW, etc...

So the robbers can afford to drug constantly to win the games because winning a 30k+ game fund gives them the means to buy more drugs/upgrades to keep doing it over and over and over.... GIven that most of the mults in the game they deployed were Major to Colonel in this one, maZZill was a Colonel, it's obviously increasingly profitable to them to continue to manipulate the game economics at ever higher ranks.  I'm sure they're power leveling mults in set games on the side when there isn't anything to take over, since there are blatantly organized groups that are doing this.  That way they make sure they can keep doing the game robbery/take over at whatever level they need to and have the right level mults to do it.  So for those thinking this is just a problem at the low end of the ranks, you're wrong and this is only a problem that will get worse in the higher ranks as the groups continue to level up.  In fact I suspect you're going to start seeing a lot of this in the Marshall and above levels soon where the more serious dedicated, and real cash players are at.

Sadly I've had another friend give up on the game because of this, she had just lost 3 games in a row over the weekend to robbers and went enough was enough.  She's playing WoT as are several others that have left and I think there's little to no chance of her returning while another has gone to the: "nope, not spending any more real money on the game" level of play now.  I've been trying to stick this mess out but am seriously becoming increasingly dismayed at the increasing rate and I find myself spending less and less time playing as friends slowly drop out or move to pickup other games that don't suffer from these issues.

Shame. So the only way to avoid getting robber nowadays is to play short battles and only enter long ones from start to finish with a good team of your own (people who won't leave the game halfway through, leaving space for mults).

it happened more in the no-crystal-box experiement, although I used to be able to foresee what is coming,

but crystal raider are very common in generalismo rank, even both side are full list of generalismo, the raid still can win without multing, or even 1-2 generalismo rank of mult.

it is all about choosing the correct side at very beginning.

since if it is generalismo rank tank, it means more possiblity of fully-mu-ed m4, and 1 rank less means most likely a m3.

if you see one side constantly use health kit, most likely they will win.

Yeah, the "smart cooldowns" didn't really help the situation. A well organised group can still easily "rob" another team if they have enough drugs due to the almost limitless use of repair kits. With a team of people with M4 tanks AND with voice communication a normal team of random players has no chance against them. Just don't play long battles unless you have a good, reliable team of friends.

why swede u aint responding? the last post was made over 2 MONTHS AGO!!!!

Well... I wrote this article to present my point of view to Tanki Devs and concerned players, and encouraged others with suggestions and ideas to combat this problem. When players quote a post I've made, I try to respond to them, also, I have had other concerns to deal with in the last few months, mainly the transition of clans and the implementation of StarLadder.

I am not a member of staff nor a representative of Tanki, although over the years they have implemented many of my Ideas and always listened to my concerns.

If anyone should be responding to topics like this, it should be Devs who should make the occasional post, in these topics to let players know they are on top of it. Unless they would like to hire me to do that  ;) and report directly to the Devs with all the great Ideas from its players.

I can tell you first hand that the Devs do read these articles and work on making positive changes to the game based on the feedback from it players.

My battle just got ruined by mults..... again. I don't make proof, because they'll only get banned for 1 day. That's nothing. They'll just do it again so their friends can win. Is there a possibility to increase the punishment for mults please. A 1 day ban is just ridiculous.

mults should be banned from the GAME.

chat banns for insults are OK, but mults... u suddenly see a guy on top of ur tank and then he takes the gold box!( I HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH THAT!)

Getting on top of another tank and taking the gold box is not multing - it's a common and very much acceptable technique for light hulls.

Well this is an old topic, but it may as well have been written yesterday. The same problem still exists. In fact it has gotten worse and still Tanki does nothing about this problem. It is happening at all ranks now.

Hello everyone from War-Blade! As the problems with mults are bigger each day, i wanted to share something about mults with you. I have always preferred CTF but i discovered with my teammates that in the CP mod fund grows better , so we started to play just CP. It is fun and u can get more crystals that at the CTF or DM... In game- there was always problem with mults, and devs have fix it with kick system but it was not fair,'cause devs created kick system with some problems , so they kicked it from the game... Now mults are everywhere... I play Tanki just to relax but when i join to game i just become more angry 'cuz of them!! I cant play as well, moderator never come when u call it, kick system is not anymore in game, and mults can easily make fun of u 'cause u cant do nothing for them! If i dont join with my teammeates, in this case 8 of them ( 'cuz i prefer, and always play Pyligon CP), we can play normal games 'cause of mults.. i lost many crystals because them! On Q&A there is about 1000 questions, minimum 300 about mults and how to solve that issue, but devs always answer only some stupid questions, not those relevant for the game! What do I gain with data that the ricochet, hammer and railgun are the most used weapons!?? Please answer me on this question seriously! It is all about money in this game!! If we record mult who dont play for 15 minutes, mod responds us that it is not enough proof to take action.. yeah, mult have to sabotage about 2 or 3 days to take action, ha? Trust me if u dont fix that for about 1 year you will have about 1000 player who will mult to each other wink emoticon Here is one of my 20 pictures of mults

https://scontent-vie1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpt1/v/t34.0-12/11653301_1605312566376235_471477076_n.jpg?oh=10c0394a6471084cef1de33af5bf0bee&oe=558FBEC8 The last guy played more than 1 hour for score less than 500.. I think he is mult, what do u think ... also he played with hornet m3 and hammer m0.. there was another guy ( 15200100 ) who has joined with cedar , thunder and hornet without a little of MU, and he is gismo yeah.. he also just write GOLD BOX , GOLD BIL, GOLD GOLD!!
