Tanki Online on Unity: Questions and Answers

For the last several months we've been keeping you updated about the development of the new Tanki.

This has generated many questions and rumors.

Today, we answer the most burning questions about the future of TO, and dispel all the myths!

 

Will tanks behave differently? What will happen to physics? To parkour?

Physics and tank behavior will remain unchanged.

The current version of Tanki uses our own physics engine. This will be changed to the so-called PhysX once we switch to Unity.

There will initially be a few differences. However, resolving them is just a question of fine-tuning coefficients.

 

Will the new Tanki contain maps from the current version of the game?

We’ll recreate the most popular maps in the new version. Yes, Silence and Polygon will be there! :)

 

Will there be changes in the game’s economy?

No. Balance, prices and ranks will remain unchanged.

 

Will in-game chat be possible?

Yes. Right from the start, the game will have special chat channels for easy communication between players.

 

Will it be possible to see the profiles of other players?

Yes. Tanki will finally feature profiles. These will display a player’s achievements and personal information, if available.

 

Previous videos usually feature a Wasp with a Smoky. Can we see other models?

Currently all tank models are being reworked. Once they are ready, we will show them to you. Keep following the news!

 

On which platforms will the new Tanki be launched?

Any browser, as it is now, plus mobile devices powered by iOS and Android.

 

Will the game’s system requirements change?

We are actually trying to push the minimum requirements to be lower than they are now.

If the game works on iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S2, it will certainly work on your PC without any problems.

But for older PC’s it might be necessary to disable some effects such as dust, smoke and detail.

 

Will there be a night mode? Will you add rivers and lakes? Will there be snow and rain?

Possibly, but not from the start.

It is very challenging to implement these things in the current Tanki. However, Unity has most of these effects built-in.

 

Will the game remain browser-based or will it have to be installed?

In case of PCs nothing will change -- Tanki will remain a browser game.

You will need to install the Unity plugin on your browser. This will only take a few seconds as it is only 2 megabytes in size.

Mobile versions will have to be downloaded and installed, just like other applications.

 

Will there be a way to switch from the current Tanki to the new version? Or will players have to start from the beginning?

The new Tanki and the current version will both exist at the same time.

You will be able to play any of the 2 versions.

You will also be able to copy your account from the old Tanki to the new one, but only once.

This will copy your rank, crystals and garage.

After that you will be able to play both the old Tanki and the new version.

 

And the most important question — WHEN?

Unfortunately, we cannot answer this question, as there is still A LOT left to do. It will certainly NOT happen this year.

Awesome.. hmm I have HTC explorer.. It`s very laggy :D Will it work on HTC explorer :huh: I think not because you can`t play any game on HTC explorer without any lags :|

yessss it sounds quite good. Shame it isn't coming out any time soon. But I do have one question that isn't specifically related to this. A while ago you mentioned that you were working on some new hulls including one that hovered, are you still working on them? if so when are they coming out? are they coming out in the current version or just the Unity version?

Nice nice, but 1 question ... i got a new laptop but the videocard isn't really.. 'strong' would i be able to play without any lag's or will i lag alot? :/

it's not an Unity3d.com fault's . The USA wants restrictions on all American companies to not sell anything to some countries. The USA has a list of countries that are sanctioned.

 

but ... 

 

You can 'manage' this, you need only the browser plug-in (not the engine, nor the SDK) : check your browser version, then find on the web a site for the download not blocked in your country. It could be annoying, but it worth  :)

It won't be this year, if you read carefully in the first page you see that the tanki online Unity will not be this year. The new hulls and turrets will be but we don't know when.

Okay so how about this why don't you think of a way through which the player can decide whether to play with unity or flash? you can put some sort of button 2 actually and by pressing oneof those buttons you an decide whether to play tanki with flash or unity...........

Actually there will be a way to play in unity and flash, but you must choose one from your accounts to be available in flash and one another in unity. You can't play with one account both in flash and unity.

tanki team  please lower the prices for tanki online. i liked it when it was 15 crystals for a hull or turrent. can u just put more crystals into the grey and blue boxes,and/or lower the prices. almost 300000 for a tank kit come on. can you please change it. :(

First of all that's not the correct topic for say that ... however you will take a lot of crystals when you will have an high rank and you will be able to buy everything you want.

 

PS. Kit is not for all, it is only for skilled people and for buyers.
