If you tell me that I don't know how to use the turret, than how am I in the top charts most of the time with this thing?

Getting XP for healing is the simplest way to earn crystals.

All i know is what I read from you. If you say all you do is sit at the base then I am sorry for you points or no points. You are missing the fun. As for charts those usually mean: the people play the game a shyteload of hours. [shrug]

The point splitterpoint was making is that it's easy to earn EXP in even if you're a bad player. A turret can both be noob-friendly and have a high skill cap at the same time.

Fair enough but to claim skill is not a factor is ridiculous.

Indeed skill isn't a factor. If you know how to turn the turret and heal everyone in the base you'll reach the top 3 no matter if the team is winning or losing. There's no strategic element in being a succesful base healer. This is why I change to Isida whenever my team is completely destroyed by the other. It blew my mind how quickly I could squeeze the extra crystals out of those kind of battles; The sit-back-and-relax turret of T.O.

I have m4 isida on m4 Viking and it is not the most op turret by a long shot. They nerfed it too much when they took away all the self-healing. Right now my m4 flamer slaughters everything.

Fire & Isida were designed for different things.

Isida gets lot of score (and thus xp and crys) by healing team-mates. And it can defend itself 1 vs 1well.

You need many kills for mission?  Fire prob better bet.

But if you need crystals or xp - Isida can do it for you.

Finish first?  Good chance with Isida.

No supplies battle?  Team without Isida << Team with Isida.

If all you do is stay at the base  you throw away most of the points you could score if you play well. I do not see any Isidas doinf what you claim... this is a fantssy you created in your minds\.

There might be some cases where this works... TDM battles with long-range turrets... heal the fat-boys as they shoot and get damaged. An Isida on each team could end up top-scorers.  Highways, Brest, even Serpuhov red side - isida in base has lots to heal.

Wwll in TDM a lot of time they turn into sniping matches. There is nothing to force teams to advance to grab an objective so often groups just gravitate around the spawn area and zzzzzzz. [blink] Sorry just thinking about TDM put me to sleep.

In 98% of game is is in fct the Isidas who least can afford to sit still in one spot. A shaft can. A Magnum can. But an Isida needs to go where the fighting is hot, to crack into objectives, and to bolster defense of the other team's objectives. The skill a good Isida player needs in battlefiled awareness, to see the game on a level higher than my tank shoot that tank now.

Not to mention the tactical skills an Isida driver needs to fight which are considerable.

But yes I go agree any player can take any tank and sit in one spot. It is just a lie to say that player will thrive doing this thing.

I don't think I even need to play well lol. You're probably right that one would miss out points but the damn thing is so easy to use that I developed some sort of lazyness when using it. Edited by splitterpoint

Fair enough but you are missing out on the joy of scrambling from hot spot to hot spot to keep as many friends up and fighting as possible. ::)

I had a game a few days ago where  I ended up fighting with a Dictator / Rail. I have never loved that hull so much. The guy knew how to play with an Isida ... roughly 90% of all players DO NOT. I cannot tell you how many enemy we killed all the time deep in the enemy spawn area. We did this because we maneuvered together so well. His big fat hull blocked enemy fire while I healed and picked off the occasional foe. But we did not so this sitting still. It was A constant dance as enemies spawned all around. The threat came from a different direction every few seconds. It was a constant dance in a hesitate and die situation. WE lasted as long as we did because both the Rail guy and I played very well. If either one of us were mundane players we would have been cooked.

So maybe Isida is easy to use casually. But you are denying yourself a lot of fun by not pushing the envelope.  Give it a try! ;)

I played a lot of close range maps (poly cp, island, arena) today with my titan twins

I noticed that most games are won in these maps on 4 factors:

  • Equipment modification e.g. m2 or m3, or MUs on m3s
  • Number of isidas per team
  • Module changes and Weapon changes
  • Teamwork (e.g. shielding and flag drops)
I have ranked these in (imo) order of importance

Number of isidas comes 2nd on the list

Now, from what I have seen, Isida seems to be the 2nd most effective win condition on these maps, but I was constantly outscoring Isidas, both on my team and the enemy with my twins. Therefore, I have concluded that twins can generate more score than isida, but this does not correlate to winning matches. Firebirds were also outscoring isidas, because they can hit multiple enemies at once.

Onto the main point here, I am looking for a short range weapon to buy in the halloween sales. I was going to buy striker, but the negative opinions of striker in the discussion thread have put me off. Out of the 3 short range turrets, my favourite is firebird, and I have the m2 alteration for it. My other choice would be isida, becuase of its effectiveness in the current state of the game.

I need some opinions on whether isida is more impactful than firebird in these maps, does the extra score of firebird outweigh the impact of isida and most importantly, which one I should buy.

TL;DR : opinions needed on the current impact that isida has in short range maps compared to firebird

1. teamwork 2. healer / non healer balance 3. modules and modification 4. amount of short range turrets which can damage more than one tank at a time / amount of turrets which can only shoot at one tank at a time.

I would not consider Striker as short-ranged.  The Splash damage and reload for individual shots hurts it up-close.

As for Isida vs Firebird... and impact...

Depends on what your team is composed of. If already have 1-2 isidas, wont need another. If none or 1 a 2nd can turn the game.

Isidas have bigger impact in no-supply games since that is only healing you get.

Twins and Fire are similar in that they are adept at killing on smaller maps.

Isida good 1 vs 1 but - juice empties fast. Firebird empties fast but can kill multiple tanks.

If your happy with Twins you may not need firebird on these smaller maps.

Isida quite different so it would be a good change on Twins.

What i meant was that I was going to buy striker, but now im going to buy a short range turret.

Usually when I play it is rare to find an isida player, so ill probably get isida. Like you said, it will be a nice change to twins gameplay. Should there be 1 or 2 isidas already, I will have twins as a good backup option.

The only time i dont play no supply games is when doing missions, and for those I use viking-twins and drug hard

Drugging is not a problem for me, all these supplies are built up through saving missions. Some of them are even from the days of daily gifts and the time they gave like 1000 of each supply for something, I forgot what, it was years ago.

Also, ive been getting a lot of noobs/mults recently in my island games, people with high ranks but generally trash equipment like m1s, I have no clue why.

If you want to pocket somebody, you don't have to dry hump their backs to do it. Most Isidas don't realize the amount of range they have can be taken advantage of to protect themselves and the person they're healing.

Lol, people in my rank are supposed to be m1s, why are field marshall's m1s?  :P

I have no clue

People past the rank of 3rd lieutenant still using m1s should probably quit the game and make a new account, but because of the time they have invested into the game already, they keep thier trash account and join high ranked games like mine, only to sabotage the team indirectly with thier bad equipment

yeah if you have crystals to spend its fine

but some people have lots of m1s and no crystals - they are screwed in the lieutenant ranks

Until I bought medic Kit at Brigadier, I had choice of Titan M2 or Viking M1.

Playing on larger maps was a bit of torture... choices were to move like a turtle or move fast(er) but risk getting killed by one Thunder shot.

Exactly. That's why I always target Isida first, especially if they have a weak hull, to make things a lot easier, because they are too focused on whoever they are healing to focus on themselves.

I always consider my team mate as an extention of myself... going out making the kill yourself is a waste of HP especially if the enemy uses splash damage. I generally stay put and behind cover, making use of my range but I notice that I'm on the move more now.. healing everyone in range.
