The idea was to balance out the game. Each turret and hull are as they are because they are unlocked at a certain rank. Not 2 ranks higher, not 2 ranks lower, all is calculated.

 

Current kits ruin that balance making the game worse for the majority of players.

 

Our aim is to make kits desirable and popular (and no, we are not stupid, we understand that their popularity will decrease) among all sorts of players, make them not a 99% buyer thing but something common. So, future kits will probably cost less or the same as now and they won't unlock any items before each of a kit's items is available for buying separately.

 

Many of you are right in saying that we are looking for balance, things may change.

We are currently thinking of making kits according to tankers' votes and implementing a system of personal offers that would offer you specific bundles or discounts depending on what you use in battles and how you play.

 

So, loads of exciting things are over the horizon, you guys just need to wait.

I think medium M3 should be unlocked earlier but not at brigadier. IMO it should be unlocked at Marshal. The point of buying kits instead of the other way is too get goods before they're available at your rank but the only thing that you get before it's available at your rank is Clay.
