is it really worth doing any upgrades or micro upgrades or even buying paints

I have a m2 hornet with forest paint just bought the in love paint in 50% birthday sale yet that paint makes mhy tank weaker than the forest paint.  I also have m2 isida, m1 rail, m1 thunder and bothflame and freeze are m1.  My problem is no matter how much I alter paint, hulls or weapons my tank never changes it always gets killed in 1 or 2 shots even when using drugs so is it really worth having upgrades and micro upgrades or even paints in the game they seem pointless to me.  nothing changes when you use them :angry:  :angry:  :angry:  :angry:  :(  :(  :(  :(

Look, almost every paint has different protections.

In your case, Forester paint has 10% protection from Railgun. While inlove paint has 10-15-5 % protection from Isida-Freeze-Ricochet respectively.

As you change your paint, if it has different protection(s), the whole tank is effected by that. I'll explain this with an example(rail-hornet);

Hornet m0 can survive 1 shot of Railgun if it(hornet) has equipped Tundra.

Hornet m0 cannot survive 1 shot of Railgun if it has a different paint on it(take inlove for an example).

That is why you think that your tank has become weak.

It also depends upon your Modification(m0-m1-m2-m3). The higher it goes, the better it will be.
