Star Ladder

I have just found a link to Tanki Online's Star Ladder page. It was hidden in the last post in a thread in the clan section. I do have some questions.

  1. Why has the English community not been included in this information?
  2. Why is most of the stuff on the page in Russian? (including the sign-up section.)
  3. Why is the commentary for the matches from today in Russian?
  4. Is the English community going to be able to be part of this new system?
  5. Last 1 for now. But why do the tournament formats always have to be rail? What about players  that do not use rail, or clans that use a mixture of various weapons? Do we get excluded from tournaments?

I feel like the information coming from the cybersport side of tanki has been very little and incomplete lately. It is, however my understanding that the English forum mods for cybersport don't even have this information. So I don't blame them for the lack of information, I blame the Russian administrators.

1. Our community is really not involved in this to much except for league one...secondly it will be updated as nick stated.

2. It was just taken and translated from the Russian section most likely...clam down all will be fixed

3.The only 2 star ladder reporters are Russian...Cybersport has its own

4. Yes, it will start at the end of the month as nick stated

5. I wonder same thing maybe since rail is always 2 hits and makes it really fair idk....you can always use the medium or hard format if you use other things although there should be a heavy format

your last statement about blaming people is not really fair. it is a group collaboration by all 3 communities so no one's fault for anything

  • Why has the English community not been included in this information?

  • Why is the commentary for the matches from today in Russian?
  • Is the English community going to be able to be part of this new system?

I'll answer you the answers I know. I am not involved in StarLadder (yet) so I cannot answer the questions about the website. I think we should await the FAQ to come to get Tue best explanation.

3. As you can see the whole commentary has changed. There is a studio, there is a nice interface. Unfortunately there are no English Commentators there. Commentating is also knowledge of the game, and we don't have them there. Our current commentators are not able to go there (Kiev is far away). That is the reason why. I can promise you that we (English Commentators) are not done yet. Soon we'll come with a stream, but we won't have a studio or statistics I guess.

4. For sure, English clans are able to apply (although that experiences some problems now) but English people should be able to take part.

5. In the past we had no formats. That is: Mammoth in base, isida behind it and nobody will ever catch a flag anymore. The reason that there is railgun is because the gameplay is so dynamic. Playing this format requires a lot of skills, and the highest level of skills can be found in this format. When you bring a Rico and a Firebird the game slows down... I think the format is good, but yeah... unfortunate for some clans.

Hi,

  1. That post you found out is not hidden, it is published here

  2. http://tanki.starladder.tv/en  <---- english version of that site (apologies for the few typing mistakes here and there, they will be rectified)

  3. Commentaries are provided by StarLadder and they only provide russian commentaries for the moment.  But in future we do not discount the possibility of commentaries in other languages.

  4. Yes, and as a matter of fact it is already participating in this competition.  Sadly 2 of our top clans (AK and NA) came defeated today.  For more info about the new changes around starladder please see this topic: Changes in Cybersport system

  5. In the past there has been several format of fighting for previous tournaments, most likely there will be other formats in the future as well but that will depend on many factors and may very likely vary from series to series.  For the moment the current light format with 1 smoky is the chosen format for this tournament and all clans playing it have all got the same handicap, which makes it a more sporting rather than having 1 clan win by just having a bigger garage.  Also the star series is all about clans and their members demonstrating high level of skills and not bigger tanks, weapons and paints.

About other clans who want to play with a mix of weapons, they can still challenge their counterparts in the old fashion by contacting them and arranging a war with them with rules and limitations they agree upon.  However for the moment the CyberSport staff will be focussing on the StarLadder series and in the future may be we'll see some changes or addition of new formats, for that we'll have to be a little patient ;)

About the last paragraph it is good to know that in the past it was actually way worst.  Things are improving now, and StarLadder unlike tanki itself in the past has actually unveiled both the russian and english version of their page on the same day.  It shows how committed and serious they are about not having it being restricted to one country only.  Yes there are fixes that needs to be made, in quite a lot of places, + it is brand new as well, so expect in a few weeks from now it will be nice and complete.
