A Home in the Void

Whoa, light

Is this bright?

I can’t tell

Though I know I’m doing well.

I’m getting fuller without a doubt.

Check all these little guys out!

That one’s blue, this one’s red

But why are they making each other dead?

Zooming around, I see them all go,

But, do they know?

Do they know how I care for them;

How, once they die, I go and revive them?

I like watching all these figures playing their games,

It feels like it’s what I was made to do.

I see two groups forming, both on my opposite sides.

Why are they doing this?

I see them all saying ‘Go’ to each other.

Why is that?

They’re shooting at each other!

But they’re all so wonderful and interesting to watch…

Why would they be doing this to each other?

As one of their owns energy levels fades, I quickly act,

Breathe life into them again, and put them back with their friends,

Away from their aggressors, in hope to keep some peace on this…

Battlefield?

A smaller group grows in size,

As they begin to traverse my side.

Their smallest, fastest one goes

For the object of so many woes.

He gets picked off

From a sniper way off

But his tailing friend

Takes the prize and curves around a bend.

A large mess of them forms,

And I am left to reinstate all their forms.

I now notice they don’t know me.

They’re unconscious, void of sight when they’re in my care.

It was a sad thing to realize at first, that my work couldn’t be appreciated

In the way I wanted it to be.

But, I understood it was best this way,

So they could get back to having fun, not worrying about anything else.

I started to get a hang of what they were doing.

It’s a team sport, were they try to get my flags to

touch each other, while one is in its original position.

They use lots of neat strategies.

I like it when they talk with each other,

It reminds of how smart my precious little guys are...

After a few bold moves on either side, the tally has changed.

I’m so glad they’re doing this well,

I think it’s time one of my presents fell.

I make an announcement, like I do for their flags,

And most of them stop what they're doing, and pray against lags.

From the top I let it go,

And what a sight it is, this drug show!

As it nears to the ground

I can practically hear the sound

Of everyone giddily screaming,

And that always ends with me feeling like beaming.

I take a quick glance at my time, and see that it is nearly expired.

I signal the news to everyone, by having my time blink for them.

They still don’t know who I am.

Not really, not consciously.

They all start speaking at once, commenting on what they had just witnessed

And experienced. They all sounded satisfied, and I gave them their rewards

For spending so much time with me.

I’m glad they enjoyed their time with me.

I wish they’d stay and play on me again.

Battle restarts in: 05   Exit?

One by one, they all depart,

And, inside, I lose a part.

I am now empty at last,

And have a moment to reflect on my past.

As I look at my range,

I feel something strange.

I know there will be no more flags, blue nor red.

I know that I am now...
