How is it possible to get modifications for guns and turrets without buying? It would take me like a month of steady playing to just get a M1 while M2s and M3s cost even more.

you just answered your own question and with steady play and SKILL you could easily get a m1, m2 in a measly week of playtime you also get a very considerable amount of crystals for ranking, dont buy supplies mu or paints mu are useless on m0 m1  imo because those are precious crystals towards your next combo, supplies aka drugs are a crystal destroyer because once you start buying them YOU CANT STOP, each rank you advance gives  you crystals so sacve up those.  keep in mind that those people like you who have a hard time gaining crystals should stick to 2 or 3 combos because youll gain crystals for that particular m2 and or m1 instead of blowing it on a combo u dont even use which will in term make your crystal count increase dont buy paints at lower ranks imo m1 paints become useless after you get to a major and that time will come soon the only reason i find m1 paints intriguing is because swash and jaguqar are too sexy for their own good :P

It's very possible. I have a good bit of M1's and soon I'll get M2's on SALE. To get what you want, you need to take advantages of sales. Everything I have was bought on sale (Even M1 mammoth) Make another account for testing what you like and what you are good with and imply it on your good acc. Focus on just that and wait till a 50% sale to buy it. You'll get all what you want and extra's too.
