Tips On Using The Z,X,C Buttons?

Recommended Posts

Your first step should be to completely stop using the C button!

Never touch it again. I really never use it.

Just focus on Z and X. This way you will force yourself to turn the turret.

I 'm not a Pro myself, but I suppose Pro 's never use the C button anymore.

Another benefit: one less key to worry about!

A (boring) way to train the use of your turret is to make a private battle.

Pick a spot on a wall, or shoot a spot and next you make drive-by 's while turning your turret

and shooting on the same spot again and again.

Smoky is a good turret to use for this purpose.

Really learn to turn: or be a noob forever... ;)

great one

me:

right hand: index fin. = left; middle fin. = up, down; ring fin. = right, pg up,pg down; baby fin. = drugs

left hand: middle fin. = "tab"; index fin. = z,x; thumb = space

only problem is, that i cant turn right and simultaneously move view up or down....

sometimes when i full drug, i just move my fingers to 2,3,4 and press them together and play

but 1st try to learn how to control them, cuz my bro has problems with it (but he is trying it alot, so its getting better)

If you don't use a hull easier to control, you'll have an even harder time learning how to use Z and X properly. I highly recommend buying a heavy hull (Come on they're just 100 or 400. You must have that amount of crystals to buy them) And you say you can't control your tank? Do you use camera angles?

Yes I use hunter, and my camera angle i move at times. And i think finally im getting used to z and x, thanks all! Keep um coming!!!

In my opinion, try freeze to get a hang of turning you turret. After using freeze for a while, you get used to turning your turrets. All it takes is practice. Good luck.

I have used turning keys since gefreiter but i learnt on my own. If u want to know how to control properly u must keep hull moving all the time and also try moving turret while moving hull. u can easily control by doing this..in practice and also keep trying while doing battles as well...hope this helps: D

Keep playing with those buttons you will soon get used to it as said above.

I have been playing for quite a long time now and I don't even know what button I use to shoot <_<

Maybe my index finger?

When i was a noob with Wasp and Rico, i spinned my turret only in special situation (If a Freeze attacks me, i look around for some enemy and etc) until W O 1 i think. Then i bought Mammoth and played with it sometimes (spinned my turret more, but still not enough). Then came the time when goldies were 2014 and i said: I die so much with Wasp and i really need golds, so i will get Mammoth M1 ( I was a W O 5 then). So i started playing ONLY with Mammoth, even in CTF's and started spining my turret more and more. At January 2014 i just spinned my turret even to look somewhere, or whatever, just used it a lot. Now i spin my turret ALWAYS, no matter what i do. You will never see me with centered turret, even if i just walk. I am anoyed when i see my friend (which is 11 years old) getting the flag without spinning his turret, and i tell him: Man please click Z or X, my eyes burn. An d he says: Its not needed, there are no people around. -_-. My eyes really burn when i see noobs who don't spin teir turrets. So you better learn before the Lieutenant ranks or it will be bad.

And for final, i will tell you that 70 % of the people i see in DM's don't spin teir turret. From W O 5s to Generalissimoses. Bought accounts, everywhere...

i use my left ring finger for "Z" and left middle finger for "X". I also use left ring finger for "Q" and left index finger for "E" for changing camera prospective. changing camera prospective is very important like rotating turret and remember practice makes a man perfect :)

Fast Foot Forward

When going against someone, it is not only important to turn your turret, but it might be more viable to turn your hull as well.

Let's take using Wasp/Rail into account. The turret on Wasp is weighted on the back, so if you turn your tank to move backwards with your turret turned 90 degrees, you can attack your enemy while showing the lowest amount of your own tank to their guns. This also applies to Dictator and Mammoth, although Mammoth works better when facing forward.

C Button

My opinion on using the "C" key is that it isn't a necessary key, but can be used to define where your tank is pointed.

Hands Separate

Now, being able to control your tank and your turret as if they were two separate entities takes a lot of practice but is key to being able to take down stronger opponents. Seeing how you use Hornet, most other tanks will be stronger but slower.

In order to fight off, let's say, a Viking/Ricochet, you might find your self needing to retreat AND attack at the same time. So you would try and dodge with your Hornet while keeping your Rail on the Viking with your turret so that you can attack him all the same. Through my experience, I would say that this method greatly increases mortality ranks among low HP tanks.

Third Person Grace

In Tanki, you have the ability to change your POV from the high top-down view and to the the low rear angle, plus everything in between.

For example, if I don't use camera controls when coming up to a large rock, I won't be able to the see the Shaft waiting on the other side, waiting to let go of space bar and murder me to the spawn. In this case, camera controls are key.

Now this is how turret control comes into play.

If you stay glued to the neutral facing direction of the tank, you have the point of view of the whatever is directly in front of you and what ever is about 45 degrees to both of your sides. If you turn your turret to the left, you can now see everything to the far left of you. You suddenly have multiple perspectives to play around with.

In another example, you are being chased by an enemy and you come up to a relatively thin wall. You take cover behind the wall and make your tank become parallel with the wall. Your enemy drives to the opposite side of the wall and stops.

Now, with your new turret spinning abilities, you mind think it wise to tun your turret towards the wall, so that when/if your enemy pops out, you will be able to shoot at him quickly. In some cases, it might be better to put your turret to neutral! Why is this?

Your POV is now changed to see what's in front of you and whatever is about 45 degrees to any side, or in this case, where your enemy is on the other side of the wall! This mixed with camera controls allows you to base your movements and actions before your enemy is even in firing range!

Two is Better Than One

If you turn your tank and turret in the same direction at the same time, your turret will turn at the speed of the tank's rotation plus the speed of the turret's. This means faster turning, which means faster reflexes. Simple.

My two cents is to not neglect hull movement.  Turret movement is great to see, attack while moving, and move faster but most maps are not flat and you lose a lot control over your vertical axis if you don't try to keep your hull facing the enemy.  Sometimes it is better to make fine movements with the turret and lean your hull over an edge, sometimes it is better to reposition your hull for delicate shots when your turret isn't flat relative to the enemy.
