Does the in game economy need a rework?


In game economy, and whether it should be edited or changed.

We all see it. On most of the servers in this community, players are begging for crystals (see image located in the spoiler) . Usually the lower ranks, just getting into this game.

As more and more players join the game, the more players will end up leaving the game as they find it hard to obtain crystals (the in game currency). 

 

 

Our current system is the old system this game started on, just with an extra digit placed on the end of each number. The upgrade prices, and overall prices have increased with the main balancing update (late 2012), along with the purchase price of crystals. This update also ruined the first impressions of many players entering the game, and usually, those players end up quitting this game.

 

Players short on crystals, most of the time go to the server chat, and ask for crystals. Occasionally a hacker will come up and offer them XXXX crystals, but only to lure them into giving away their account. This issue could be solved if earning crystals in the game becomes easier, and simpler overall.

 

Many members want to buy crystals, but they can't or their parents won't let them (see image). The people at Tanki Online need to understand not every player is full of money they want to spend on this game.

 

Most players that endure this game up into higher ranks (Warrant Officers to Capitan), end up with "M0" or "M1" combinations and hold their team back when playing battles with a team. Which gives certain ranks (and rarely players) a bad reputation.

 

The developers at Tanki Online want this game to gain popularity (who doesn't?), but it doesn't look like this game is gaining any popularity with lots of people quitting every day.

 

I am sure many players want the economy to be reworked, and make this game fun to play again, as most players spend their time in the chat, and not the game anymore (at least on the English side of this game).

 

This is all I have to say for now. I would like to get your first impressions of this game when you joined, and feedback from some of the newer players in this game.

I definitely struggled with crystals when I first began playing, and I can understand why other new players often gave up. It took some perseverance to get enough funds for a decent combo, but I got there in the end.

I think some minor changes should be made to the economy, perhaps take prices down slightly, or battlefunds up slightly; just enough to make it easier for the newer players, but still relatively challenging.

Come on i have 6 m2s at my rank just by playing normaly (not druging). It is easy to earn enought money to buy without paying real money

your point of view is right

 

after changing gaming system is now more painful to earn crystal in game, i can share my experience but may be you like that.

 

i play tanki for 2 years

at begining i was noob ( no one is so cleaver by born ) that time i was finding for droped crystals rather than looking for battle fund .

that time i never out of crystal for upgrading hulls & turret

 

as much as we grow up now a day i rearly look for drooping crystal rather than battle funds

but now we realise that we need more crystal to upgrade my hulls or turret , or we have to buy for it.

 

 

i am a free player & i have 7 account . including recruit

 

with plying all account i can share my point of view

 

 

to change system of crystal sharing should be like this

 

1. stop droping 10 crystal & distribute that crystal 5 or 3 crystal / kill

 

its make game more dynamic , it will encurage player to play game seriously. in every game 20%-50% player looking for droping crystal & they are multing , if rules say that dosee not contributing for team & lookng for only dropng crystal is against rule so there shold be no free crystal .

 

can you ever see any serious player who looking for capturing flag with using supply is collecting fallen crystal? its rare

give free crystal who desrve it , if any one know that he will recevie crystal instanly for killing a tank he always try to play seriously & that will be helpfull for entire team

 

 

2. recall old system, rank range for joing battle make it 5 rather than 9

 

with kits , microupgrade , druggers is now impossible to compete in battle , i am drug buyer. but my drug loosing ratio is horrible now a days , so i reduce my plaing time  tanki by 1/3 , i join any battle if it suitable for me & its rear now a days

I think the system should be reworked at the beginning levels. If you go to a recruit battle, 2 or 3 kills add 1 crystals to the fund (All modes) while at Gen 1 kill adds 6 crystals to the fund. During a double fund event, I saw a 999 point CTF game going on and at the end the fund was only 3.5k At 1st LT it can do that in 20 minutes! Doesn't seem fair to me and it's a real struggle. I don't think newbies want to struggle at their first turn; it will turn them away. Make it easier for them THEN raise the pressure, not vice versa.

Crystals have to earned

what they can do is make different economy for different battles

 

i gave the + 1 only and only because u put in lots of effort in making this otherwise i am happy with current system

Tanki online involves a big team to work and to make this game better. So they need to pay salary and all. And i agree with the above comments that it is difficult to earn crystals to buy hulls and guns atm. That's the reason many of us just wait for discounts. So my suggestion would be that Tanki online should introduce advertisements so that way they can earn money as well and later they can change the economy so that we can all stay happy.

We know Tanki Online mainly relies on the sales and purchase of Crystals. I don't know how much money the game developers made in 2013, it would be great if we could see the results of a successful year.

 

I am sure their sales tactic could change, and it would be a win-win for both sides (player, and developer), but we are here to talk about the current in-game economy, and not changes that can be applied any time the team wishes.

How often do you play, and how long are those sessions? Not every player has half a day or so to play this game. This game has a slow progression rate, and takes a while to get anything done without purchasing crystals. Most players don't want to endure games, which are supposed to be fun.

I think it's very good. As Chameleos said, we have a lot sales, double funds and bigger golds. The only problem for me is that druggers rob our funds,  they get it all and we nothing. And i bet someone doesn't want to play 12 hours for like 100 cry from fund. The economy is good enough. The problem with noobies who give up and leave can be fixed with some consultants ( If consultants come more often on servers and talk to noobies ). Lower ranks must know that they shall concentrate at 1 combo, not buying everything, but someone has to tell them.

the trouble here is that the fund distributions in battle is stupid. the first players get way less crystals that they should, while the last wheels of the cart get more than they deserve. make the fund distibution for battles not percentual but exponential. a player who broke his ass to get 100 flags should get more than 2000 crystals from a 15000 battle fund. 

here comes an idea. make a bonus for the first, second and third place of every battle? like a 10% of battle fund for the first, a 5% for the second and a 3% for the third. also a little 2% for the first of the loosing team... like if the battle fund is 2500, give after the fund sharing +250 crystals to the first, 125 to the second, 75 to the third and 50 to the first one of the loosing team.

This is a great forum and before I begin, great job to the Original Poster :-)

 

When I first started tanki it was so difficult from learning the game to the experienced players who would ruin the games. There were so many issues with earning crystals as when I wanted to get an m1 I noticed that it was always expensive and I never had the "exact" amount. In October or November Tanki had a HUGE re-balance and everyone received crystals for their "current" rank. It was then and only then that I decided to stay and continue this game until the end. I don't think I would have continued without that re-balance as I got 20,000 or something crystals. I was then able to get a combo, paint (paints are hard to get with their prices), and hull. I still struggled but found new hope when Christmas came! Everything was 50% off and I found my favorite combo then. I think Tanki should give a video full of crystal tips and buying tips for new players up to WO1 as this would have helped me lots when I was a WO2. When that re-balance happened I then started to watch their news and was then updated on the latest sales and updates which still helps me continue. So I think minor changes to garage prices are in order...But I think this forum may be out-dated as Tanki is working on new crystal drop boxes that will be worth more than 10 (mistake if you as me as more players will join for this reason alone :P) and it has it's kit system going which will help most tankers in tanki. The issue I have (offtopic for a minute) is experience points or XP.

 

It takes me forever to get the xp needed for the next rank for example: 

I am a shaft player so I'm saving for m2 and I currently have around 60k. To get m3 shaft I have to be Major General and have at least 103, xxx crystals for a 50% Shaft m3. It takes me a month to rank now and I'm 100% sure I won't get there unless I want to face F's in my classes xD If Tanki could change this I would be more motivated to play and to get the experience points needed so I'm able to get my favorite gun :-) 

 

What do you think? Remember there is already updates that TO is working on so don't complain too much ;) But I think a video on some tips is in order. -TheThreeWishes (I don't go on forums to comment so don't be too surprised if I don't come back :P)

The Economy is great, I only think the Garage Prices aren't proportional to the ability to earn Crystals in the game and should be decreased.

They should be decreased a little bit, and i think you should get a few crystals like 5 or something for killing.

I think 2 is a great max as think about the effect of 5: 

 

I kill 121 tanks in a 1 hour battle. That multiplied by 5 is 1105 I think that's alot as the battle fund will be less than the actually reward. If we do that with 2 it's 242 which is a much better ratio in my personal opinion. The new kit system is very nice and I'm so excited for the new drop crystal system! :)

Really equipments are expensive, specially paints. Falling boxes have much problem. By the way, only maybe %20 reduce is enough for me.

 

By the maybe guns' and hulls' prices are fine. Only paints are too expensive(Really so expenvise)

I agree, the current system makes it hard to earn crystals. Either the battle funds should be increased or the prices should be decreased. If it weren't for in-game contests, I would probably gave only one m2 at this rank.
