Parkour

Hi there tankers and parkourists – In this issue I will begin a new series of articles about a wonderful topic: parkour! These articles are written to improve the parkour level of any parkourist! You can be member of the tutorial team or just a random parkourist: you never have learnt everything. Parkour is creativity, spending (a lot of) time for one trick and trying to find out new ways. In the first few issues you’ll come to know everything about the basics of parkour, and later I’ll explain the harder tricks from the start, you’ll learn how you use the basic tricks to create the harder tricks at the end – love to learn and learn to love!

The History

Does parkour have a history? Yes and no. Parkour is a wide term, getting up to an house with just a tower of tanks is parkour, but so are the tricks of ToT. This means that the first tankers who tried to get up to any house, wall or whatever were doing parkour. We can make a conclusion that parkour is a part of the game since the beginning, although we can’t say when it started exactly, and that it has changed again and again. Pre-rebalance, you could shoot yourself up to walls and stuff by Ricochet and Thunder M2 and M3,  but now you need a partner for parkour. (Which turrets are usable nowadays I’ll inform you later in this article.)  No reason to be sad: parkour is creativity and it will never end. After these updates you just should find out which stuff is usable by checking the statistcs of the turret or hull in your garage.

Everything is changing, but what are the recommended hulls and turrets? As I said, parkour is creativity, though a lot is possible, long range turrets and light and medium hulls are the best for parkour, although Twins and Ricochet are also good as well. Different combinations and tricks makes parkour what it is: creativity. Let’s take some of those turrets and hulls into the spotlight!

Shaft

The sniper mode is perfect to hit just the right place of the tank and give a small extra boost. However, the sniper mode also does a lot of damage. To prevent the Shaft from killing you, you can make a pro-battle with auto balance off. This way you are able to any team any time, in the same team the shaft can’t damage you. To improve the boost you give to a tank I recommend hitting them with a full shot.

Railgun

The favorite and most widely used gun for parkour is Railgun. The power of Railgun is a lot better than any other turret, though it gives quite a lot damage. With this gun many different tricks are possible, a few examples are shown in the guides of ‘The Flying Parkourists’. This gun doesn’t have a sniper mode and is harder to use than Shaft during the difficult tricks. Since takes some time before the gun gives a shot you need to find the right timing, but it shouldn’t be hard to find out.

Wasp versus Hornet

The light hulls (Wasp and Hornet) are the tanks which usually do the ‘fly work’ during parkour sessions. These are the hulls with less weight, the other hulls are too heavy for this. But when should you use Wasp and when should you use Hornet? It doesn’t matter at all, it’s up to you what hulls you want; I recommend using the hull that you have M3, since that one has more HP than the other hull. Though with the other hull you’ll fly higher than the M3 one. Parkour is creativity, so you have to decide what you want!

Viking versus Dictator

The brains behind the tricks are these hulls, they are responsible for the success of the trick. These hulls are suitable as the carrier of the light hulls. If you want to blow those tanks a bit up from the ground you can use mines, though placing mines should be done careful and precisely. The rule for the best mine effect is placing the mines ON each other, not next to each other. Also you should use two mines for Viking and three mines for Dictator. Sometimes you need to be lucky that the mines won’t kill you, but the effect is awesome! This isn't the only difference between the hulls, there is another difference called speed. Viking is a lot faster than Dictator, so if you're moving a long distance before a mine trick I recommend Viking: the effect will be better due the speed of Viking. Conclusion: Viking is nowadays the best medium hull for parkour. In the next issue I’ll explain how to use mines in more detail.

That was just some basics that you should know, it was short but everything will be explained further in the parkour lessons in each issue. In the next issue I’ll inform you about creating a parkour team in the English forum – stay tuned!

Lesson 1: Parkour Basics

As parkourist and leader of a parkour team these are a few of the basics you have to learn and be able to do during parkour sessions. Each issue it’ll be a little bit more difficult and of course more spectacular. I hope you like the parkour lessons, feedback is appreciated as comments below the article.

How to get on another tank?

As the question says: ‘How to get on another tank?’ Easy: I jump from an higher prop on my friend’s tank. OK – but what if you are together on the roof of a building?

1.1 Use different heights

IZpk3A0.jpg

First find a good place where you can easily jump on the other tank.

xZpCcng.jpg

Just drive forward and you are on the other tank, very easy!

TNPlAPX.jpg

1.2 Use Mines

The easiest way to get on another tank while you are on a building is placing a mine before your tank and let your partner drive over it with double armor. It’s easy, but you need to use extra supplies which could be a problem for you – anyway, here you go!

BErQj8F.jpg

Place one mine in front of a tank like this.

hzxct4R.jpg

The tank who’s going to explode the mine needs to take a double armor.

Jr9cQZw.jpg

After this is done they should just drive forward and he’s up onto his partner. Note: you might

need to use a first aid now, since you need to survive you friends shot if you want to go on

another building.

1.3 Use your recoil

What if you are on the top of buildings where you can’t use the different heights? Well, the next way is very easy to use in that situation. This trick can be done with Viking, Wasp and Hornet, although Wasp is the easiest hull to use while trying and using this trick.

dfidVeR.jpg

Get ready in a way similar to this.

GKD3d5w.jpg

Drive backwards until you are in front of your partners tank and then drive forward instead, in

the mean time you should shoot with Railgun or Ricochet to shoot your tank up. When you make

a kind of wheelie you should press the left or right arrow key to turn you tank onto your partners

tank.

ttdqPBo.jpg

If you have done it correctly the result will be similar like this. Note: it’s all about finding the

correct timing.

How to make ramps using tanks?

It might be useful to use a ramp (tank) to get up to an house or building, but how do you make one?

2.1 Using a light hull

KAEOu4j.jpg

First let the medium hull go on your Wasp, I recommend Wasp with a Dictator or Viking.

1Rm2IZM.jpg

Then drive with the medium hull to the wall of the building.

2pZ1kMq.jpg

Let the medium hull drive up against the wall.

X7N27Zw.jpg

Now the light hull can rejoin the battle or drive away from under the tank.

2.2 Using mines

7YLQdjQ.jpg

Place a mine similar to this picture, let the Dictator drive over it while shooting forward. If

they has done it right they will finish like the picture before this one. This trick can also be done

with Viking or Hornet aswell, note that if you want to do this trick with a Hornet or Viking you

need 1 mine, while you need two mines with a Dictator.

Guides

A new part of every issue: parkour guides! Together with The Flying Parkourists I’m showing you each week how to conquer houses in a random map. For this issue I’m posting the guide in Boombox! - enjoy!

Thanks to ‘The Flying Parkourists’ and especially to those parkourists:

@magnaboy2

@jiangreo

What can you guys expect for articles in the future? As I said, every article will have a new parkour guide in a new map.For this, I accepting video’s from other parkourists, as well as using The Flying Parkourists’ guides. Read further to see which video’s I do accept.

Maps that are done so far? Courage, Deck-9, Polygon and Boombox.

What kind of video’s I do accept?

  • Good quality.
  • Not too much effects.
  • Clear English speaking voice: explaining the parkour.
  • The whole map has to be conquered (except similar houses).
  • The video shouldn’t contain anything what breaks the rules.
  • It can be any map, except the ones who are done already.

If you think your video suits the rules sent me a PM (Link). Please sent a PM by the following way:

  • PM topic: Parkour Guide ‘Name of the map’
  • PM must contain:
    • Nicknames of the participants of the guide.
    • Link of topic if you have one.
    • Link to the video.

Notice:

  • You won't get paid crystals, supplies or anything else for this.
  • Don’t send me PM’s to join ‘The Flying Parkourists’ or with videos that don’t follow the rules that are written above.

Good luck, I’m awaiting replies!

Missions

Missions are the new project of ‘The Flying Parkourists’. Sounds cool, but there are no missions in Tanki Online? That’s right – That’s why you decide what we are going to do! It can can be anything, as long as it’s parkour! Checkout the first mission of us in the video below and enjoy!

Hope you enjoyed our first mission, the main idea was to get a Mammoth up to a palm tree, since we didn’t have enough time to record and create the video the main idea failed, although you need to find the (almost impossible) right move with your Mammoth. At least we got a Wasp up, so we got the result anyway!

Special thanks to:

@magnaboy2

@falcosenna1

@Okle7

How does it works by the way? The Flying Parkourists will try to complete missions which you can post below the video at YouTube or below this article here in the forum. We’ll choose a random mission which we’ll complete for the next edition of this series of articles, so the earlier you post your mission, the more chance that we are going to give it a try. As mentioned before it’s a project of The Flying Parkourists, you can send video’s of completed missions, but I’m not going to use it in these articles or anywhere else. So as you can see it’s quite easy: you guys send the missions, The Flying Parkourists picks one and will give it a try.

How to send your ideas?

Where to post your idea? – Post all your ideas as comment below the video on Youtube or post it below the article in the forum. Don’t spam The Flying Parkourists topic or my topic with your ideas and suggestions for new missions!

What to post?

  • Name of the map.
  • Screenshot of the element we have to conquer.
  • Description of your idea (special tank, way or whatever).

Rules

  • Don’t repeat ideas that we already have done.
  • Don’t repeat the same map more than twice in a row.
  • Make sure the idea is possible.
  • Make sure your ideas doesn’t break any of the game rules.

The articles are written to entertain you, but don’t forget that we have to thank the following team of helpers!

It's high time someone posted a thorough, understandable, and step-by-step guide to parkour which, in TO, has sadly been always the realm of an obscure few who just happen to "know how". A wonderful work--at the very first report!

Wow williew, great guide and so concise containing all necessary information - can't wait for the second article. Brilliant!

One thing that came across (it doesn't matter at all but I'm a perfectionist :P: http://prntscr.com/4b1xht )

Haha, thanks for the addition. I'm not a native speaker, so there are some grammar mistakes and stuff ;)

All directed towards M3s... :( What about parkourists like me who have to stick with M1s or M2s?

All tricks which I mentioned in this article can be done with M1's and M2's aswell. I will keep this in mind writing the next article, though I think with just some try outs you'll find the right ways. Of course for mine tricks you need 2 mines in stead of 3 for dictator M2 and for the other hulls you should just try out with 1 or 2 mine(s). If you still have a question, feel free to come back and ask it here :)

What about Hunter? Can Hunter be used as carriers etc?

Hunter is like viking looking to its speed and to dictator looking to its HP and weight. It's a mix of both hulls and you're able to use it aswell during parkour sessions. Since it's a mix of both hulls, I just have chosen to talk about viking and dictator only. You just should try out the same things like you do with viking.

1.silence

2.http://prntscr.com/4bwe7v

8 players you must have for this trick then it is easy

1.esplanade

2.http://prntscr.com/4bwinh

from the floor by the shield with the twinstrick to the highest point

i think it is not light ;)

1.rio

2.http://prntscr.com/4bwo5q

on this houser nobody was i think when you explode when you jump at this house you can make the connection out when you are in the jump

Thanks for the suggestions, we'll put them into the list of suggested missions. Stay tuned and who knows we are going to do your mission ;)
