Combat Rule-Breakers with Video Helpers

Everyone has faced mults and saboteurs in their tanki career so here is an idea for a deterrent to help mods keep the game clean and safe. There are lots of people who have the capability to record the battles they play in. Go to youtube and you'll see tanki videos in 1080HD. Some of these players have proven themselves useful by volunteering evidence for violation mods in the violators section of the forum. Why not give some of these players a function key that, once pressed, will toggle an icon of a camera recording on the screen for all to see. Or, instead of a function key, a chat command maybe, eg, /von & /voff. These helpers are just regular players who don't have any special paints, powers or privileges. All they can do is put that icon on and off to indicate they are recording the battle they are in, gathering evidence on potential rule-breakers!

If game and chat violators know their actions are being recorded, they are much more likely to behave, = more fun for all!
If you don't like this idea then explain why. Otherwise, campaign for it to be implemented by giving it a like. :rolleyes:

Nope. No special privileges or functionality. They're regular players who are playing in a battle who can put the camera icon on or off to indicate to players that they are recording the game and gathering evidence against wrong doers in the hope that they stop violating and behave.

 

Any videos submitted to the violators section will still be scrutinised by viloation mods.

Kinda like when you see security cameras.  Some of those cameras are fake but people still aren't sure and behave. I guess an icon makes sense too, it addresses the language barrier problem. I know that I have warned people that I will be reporting them and they stop whatever it is they where doing.

That would make a mod's R.L. time un-exitsting. Srsly, having a mod in each battle of game in same time is impossible ._.

Yes, there is very low number of violators and chat mods who can do it, but if this idea gets developed, they wont need to check battles entire day.

Conclusions: curently vote-system sucks cuz often enemy team wont report hacker if he is helping them.

Thanks. I still run vista and it doesn't lag much when I record at 30fps with fraps.

Let's hope this suggestion gets more likes and they include it in the game. Adding 50 or even 100 responsible volunteers with this functionality should not be hard to achieve and it would dramatically improve our gaming experience. If players know evidence is being gathered then they're less likely to offend for fear of receiving a ban or a block. Your idea about the icon next to your name when you press tab could work too!

You wouldn't even need to actually record. Just the chance that you maybe recording would be enough to scare a lot of offenders. " I see the icon. Is he/she recording? I don't know, but I'm not willing to the chance."

 

I do think the icon needs to be on the screen, not in the Score screen, and maybe even flashing. Putting it beside your name would make you a target. On the main screen would make the recorder anonymous.  :ph34r:  All you know is someone is recording. Maybe.

 

Additionally, for this to work best, Tanki should make the whole reporting process easier and less time consuming. A lot of players just can't bothered to submit a video.

How do you think it could be abused? Just asking because I don't see how. The icon doesn't actually do anything. It is just something someone can turn on to indicate to others that they are recording. If you are thinking of spectator mode, I do not believe @AbsoluteZero was think of it that way.

Tanki could issue guidelines on its use.

 

You have to weigh up what is more important, a game-spoiler ruining the games of many 100's of players, or, a little camera icon that could get switched on or off for no particular reason. 

 

Currently, I have to take time out to type and ask people to behave and stop game spoiling or I will report them. Nobody wants to see that and it gives me no pleasure whatsoever. Matter of fact, It happened yesterday. Hamza_89 joined my game and started to chat. I asked him if he was fighting and his reply was, "no, am not fighting, my friend is on the red team". The battlefund was 6.5K. I told him he'd get a ban but it did not phase him. Maybe he didn't take me seriously. Well I did warn him and I have reported him - video sent. I'd rather be playing than moaning and reporting game-spoilers. He might have behaved or left if he took me seriously. Having control of an on-screen graphic might have helped me and the other players who lost out to this spoiler.

 

I've edited the first post to include this suggestion;

Ok! I see what this about.

First of all

• Recording while playing will come with lag ( if no good internt )
• That might be clearly unable to see sabatoging etx.
• Mods keep chat lobby clean or battles ( too hard to keep up )

My idea

• /record offender name ( not really recording ) just faking
• In Tab (Name-Score-Destory-Deaths-D/L) there name will appear RED
• Icon on near Flags or Time ( or whereever ) will show someone is recording.

If still sabatoging

• /offernder name (option: Sabatoging, Only colleting crystals, Not playing etc) (need to do that from team enemy team [same as kick system]
• 

• Still not then - I need time to think other way
