First off, the point system doesn't always measure team value. As others have noted, there are many things that can win a Flag that do not get any appoints attached, such as

 

1. sacrificing yourself to blow up mines

2. pushing enemies off

3. blocking enemies pass through a tight passage

4. sniper defense of flag only, can shut down all enemy flag capture but scores few points

5. freeze mammoth defense of flag - you freeze opponent so your team can kill. can stop all enemy flag captures, but scores few points

6. sniper sitting on choke point - shutting down a travel route for enemy flag capture, may score few points

7. laying a mine field then retreating to a safer location to avoid dying and your mine field disappearing

 

and there are many other examples.

 

 

The problem with this idea is not only that it is bad for a game, it is a bad thing to teach children who are playing this game.

 

In society, we have to learn to work with all kinds of people at all different levels of skill and experience. Part of life is learning how to do that.

 

In society you will also find that some of the most valuable and important people do not score well on "point charts" created by systems to measure success artificially.

 

A better solution would just be to make the "allowable ranks" into a battle more narrow. I see many battles set up that allow WO5 into the same battle with Generallissimo - which has some problems. But you can stop that from happening without making a 'kick' system. Just make the rank-range more narrow.

 

Not to say that Mults are not a problem, but this solution of "kick out the weak" is a bad thing to teach kids. They will start to see life like this, and then adopt it into their school environments.

Those were EXACTLY my thoughts in the begining, you can find them writen many pages ago... but as time passes I start to think that this system is NECESSARY so that multing and other un-teamly behaviors are blocked.

I guess that you, like me a little while ago, don't yet realize how many mults exist and how many battles are more or less ruined by them..

Besides, it all comes down to voting and be asured, a trying and participating team-player is never going to be voted out.

Thanks. If I had to guess I'd say that well over 50% of the battles I play in have some form of inactive player that deserve to be kicked. As soon as you get to Brigadier and everyone's getting m3 combos, battle funds start to rise dramatically and those are the battles that players sabotage in order to win the pot.

 

The "kick out the weak", is just a neat little soundbite that grabs your attention but has no substance behind it.  Kick out the players that are unreasonably below average for the team they're playing with is more like it. And that's the clever part of this system. It's not been plucked out of thin air. It's evolved as more people had a say.  It's smarter than people give it credit for and it's ultimately works from score and time spent in battle.

 

As for teaching kids bad things? I don't agree at all. This system sets out boundaries. It teaches kids to know their limits and to make good choices. As for the topic, the layout, the logical structure to the suggestion itself together with the mathematics involved teaches them some other things and sets a good example. But this is a game were we kill each other in tanks. Does that teach kids bad things?

If I'm allowed to wonder a bit off the topic  I'd say that we don't actually kill each other in tanks, we never see a person in the hull and that's a good point according to my line of thought. What we see is that each one is driving a vehicle (might very well be a remote control for a drone) which shoots other vehicles. I believe it's important that Tanki doesn't actually simulates real tanks with people inside. I don't like the idea of shooting other people, not even in a game. (I don't have to add that I don't like FPS games, do I?)

 

Maybe you all think I'm a weirdo but being a bit older than the average Tanki player I have come to believe that man gets very easily used in behaviours that he sees repeatedly and violence against people - even in games, I insist - maybe makes it easier to accept it as a valid behaviour... Please don't be hasty in judging what I say, just give it a couples of years before you make up your minds.

+1 for this me and my alt account DARKWING228 have been kicked and banned too many times by the enemy team or sometimes even my own team simply because I'm doing much better than them and winning us the game and with a system like this in place the number of players being kicked and/or banned for simply playing the game should be significantly reduced

 

BTW great work OP you've obviously thought through the entire idea

May thoughts would be....

  • This system would help prepare people for the real world, where if you do not produce you get the boot.(fired)
  • If you are a low scoring VIP you likely, will not get the boot.

How are you getting banned and kicked ? There is no way to do that. This is the reason we are promoting this idea.

Yes it was under the old ban/report system which was badly planned and implemented and this one seems to be a lot better thought out than what the debs implemented.

With the new Predictable Drops update, we need this system more than ever.

You're probably right although I've not played yet. First thoughts are low ranked players will be playing the boxes and not the game so spoiling for others. Not just the high ranks either but probably them more than most.

I've just played a game and wow. Generalismos have turned crystal grabbers. Nobody plays the game any more. Wish I could vote them off.

Yea I experienced that too, when a purple box drops (100 cry) the whole map is trying to get that box, thats why I play tdm and dm for now.

I Know  what  is this  game coming to.. I say they need to bring out this kick 2 system right away before this game becomes something in the past.

Update 294 says, you can share the points when somebody pinches your kill. This helps allay concerns about not scoring enough although the update does nothing to stop mults and sabotage.

 

Triple funds this weekend means triple mults. Be wary and if you spot some of your side not working, leave and find another battle. Don't be batte fund fodder.

I like your idea, hope tanki activates it. After they get kicked out, that doesn't mean other tankers will join. (Reason: the team is losing :c) By time your whole team will leave. I really don't know what's the solution for this, plus in normal battles, to be able to win you just have to drug.

Update 294 means that MULTS can shoot a guy once, then get credit later when someone else kills the other tank.

This would inflate the Mult's score, therefore increasing the Mult's work rate.

 

A suggestion: In order to determine an accurate work rate, the score should be distributed by damage made. If someone shoots a guy once with a Smoky, and another guy kills him with a Railgun, the Smoky should receive less of a score, therefore decreasing his work rate.

Thanks. I quite often join losing sides. It's more interesting.

Why do we want to kick players that are detrimental to the team? Usually, it is to make space for a player who wants to contribute. If we kick a player who has been doing nothing and nobody else joins then we have not lost anything.

x1 or x3, a mult is still a mult and they will be crawling out the woodwork more than ever since the battle fund increase.

Very rarely can I play a game where everyone is there to play.

Time will tell but the few days of x1 we had before the x3 tells me things are no better.

It's unfortunate. The worst thing is that MULTS don't even have a good reason to be a Mult and do nothing.

I'd guess some of them don't. They get into a game and instead of playing, they are occupied doing something else.

Others I know for a fact, do so in order to give their main accounts or friends an advantage.

There are other, complementary ways TO could help with mults, say via IP control (same IP can't participate in a battle two times)... But TO doesn't seem to care for a just game, only for a profitable one.

There are situations where 2 or more players are playing from the same IP, so that will not work. Now using MAC address filtering may be possible,but I'm not knowledgeable enough in that area.
