Hornet is pretty good for speed but I find that there are situations when I just run into a thunder or something and I'm dead really really fast and can't do much about it

 

Viking is a good balance of health and speed and I play well with it but I'm not sure if it will be better than the hornet

Well with hornet, sometimes you go too fast to aim properly with rail, and is even worse with a laggy/low fps rate computer. Id advise you to get viking

I would go with hornet, you dont need health, you need speed for a railgunas you could fire run shot then run off and head for cover.

@Bopokippo It depend on your tactic: defense or attack

Viking is mostly for defense, is speed aint good.

Hornet- its kinda both , tough more for attack , whit his speed

other:

Wasp:Attack

Hunter: Both

Titan: Defense

Mammoth: defense

So who want a tank, depends on your tactic

Is mammoth + twins good for defense, similar to defense with freeze? Since twins have a longer range and most flag cappers are running wasps/hornets. The twins will make the smaller hulls unable to progress forward easily? With freeze as defense, yes, it slows the enemy but what if the enemy is out of your range? A bigger base to defend? Isnt freeze's reach too short? Twins would deal good damage, and never run out of ammo, so you can also take chunks of the enemy's hp before they get on top of your flag making them easier to kill.

Twins is alright for defense, rather its is a gun where you just stand and mow down the enemy, all you need is good knowledge of where to camp and whether a isida can heal you, and whether you are too vulnerable againsdt shft and railgun

I have almost 400 crystals (not much I know) and unlocked mammoth m1 recently. I can buy it now and I've heard it's ridiculously good for it's price but I do not plan to upgrade mammoth to m2/3 as I want to use either hornet or viking for m2-3. I know that m1 mammoth will be significantly better than either hornet or viking m0 however and I was wondering if even I were not to use mammoth m2/3, would it be worthwhile to buy it and use it while waiting to upgrade my hornet/viking?

Bopo, it would probably be better to wait. If you like Viking or Hornet, you will probably dislike Mammoth's speed. Even though it is very good for the crystals, and I would recommend it highly to those who like that style, its probably best for you to stick with Viking or Hornet.
