I own Smoky M1, Freeze M1, Isida M1, Mammoth M1 and Wasp M1 and at this point I would like to have a nice higher dmg dealing medium->long range weapon. I like to use cover to my advantage so twins aren't really my thing. I would also like to own a more balanced hull. I'm leaning towards hunter atm due to its higher speed. I think speed is more important over health, because if I'm just 1.0 m/s faster, I can dodge an extra hit which would've taken anywhere between 20-100 health. Also, I'd like to be able to take more than 2 hits by a m1/m2 thunder, and to survive from a hit by a m1/m2 railgun. (Paint can be included just suggest which paint to buy to be able to take these hits) I have 5.3k crystals atm, and I'm focusing on M1-M2 upgrades because I doubt I'll ever make it to the M3 ranks, as I won't be able to play too much in a few months so consider M2 as my 'end-game' equipment when giving suggestions.

In simpler terms, I'd like the fastest hull possible, strong enough to survive 2 hits from M1/M2 Thunder, and 1 hit from Railgun. (For times when I have an Isida behind me)

So it's a toss up between the following hulls: Hunter, Viking, Dictator... or if it would better suit my weapon, then sticking with Smoky is an option as well.

And a toss up between the following turrets: Smoky, Thunder, and Railgun

My end game goals are M2 Wasp M2 Smoky M2 Mammoth M2 Freeze M2 Isida and then either M2 Railgun, Thunder, or Shaft....Hunter, Viking, Dictator

Edit: I think I have decided on Thunder... but still very lost between Hunter, Viking, and Dictator. -Should I be thinking about all the protective paints used against Thunder though?

I like Viking for its M2 upgrade in comparison to the Dictator/Hunter, but it's the last one I'll unlock, and it's within 1 rank of the time I plan to purchase Wasp M2 so at that point I'm sure I'll be wanting to save crystals for my wasp upgrade....

Long story, I wouldn't go for Thunder, because M2 isn't much more fun than M1, I acctually don't even think it's fun

after using it a few days :falm pace: (yes, i used it M1, but hate it...)

But if you choose Thunder, ok, take Hornet M1 until you buy Wasp M2. It's not that strong but with a little smart choosen paint you'll be able to handle it

For example, you use Thunder (Big maps --> Railgun/Thunder/Shaft) Try getting a colour for that, a 'cheap' one, then buy your Wasp and a nice, good colour...

How is he going to know if he likes using the weapon unless he's purchased it..? I think it's good to test all the weapons at the start, it gives you a better vision of your options, plus it keeps things interesting.

The turret you decide to upgrade has a lot to do with what type of game mode you prefer, as well as the maps you like/plan to play on the most. Short range weapons aren't too useful in big wide open maps. They get killed before they can make it to their opponent, and without many structures to hide behind, its difficult to sneak up on people with freeze, isida, firebird, etc. If you like small maps, then the shaft is usually not the best option. If you like CTF mode the most, Isida and Freeze are infinitely useful if you play them well. If you want to be different, Smoky, Firebird, and Ricochet are much more absent on the playing field in comparison to the other weapons.

There's something called a test server, it's for testing :)

I was actually only planning to use Thunder for the M1 version, and I was going to use it until I was able to unlock smoky/wasp... would it be better to purchase Twins M1 to last me till the later ranks? It just seems like my greatest enemy are thunder users. I'm always killed in 2 hits, and there is no way to dodge a thunder really. (Rail is incredibly easy to dodge in my wasp) But often times its the amount of thunder users... 2 thunders with an Isida behind them on the blue team in Silence............. sitting above the ramps. It's impossible to pass through those entrances to the blue base unless you're a drugging mammoth with an isida behind you... who is going to die anyways from the thunder splash damage or being targeted first... and in Silence, a railgun can't pop up on those ramps without being shot repeatedly by the campers above the ramps just waiting for you.

The problem with using a railgun in maps with alot of Isida's is that ... well if you don't kill your opponent in 1 shot, your long reload time makes it impossible to kill an enemy with an Isida. With thunder you can count on your higher dps, and splash damage to deal multiple enemies at once so that the Isida's can't outheal your dps. Same thing with Smoky. You can count on that critical hit to either 1hit your opponent, or take out most of their health so that it only takes 1-2 shots more to kill them. It's like a railgun shot + 2 smoky shots after = kill. Comparing Smoky vs Railgun, I prefer Smoky by far for many reasons. First, if you miss a shot on a railgun.... you SEVERELY hinder your DPS. Also if you know someone is about to die, and you just fired, you can't get that kill becaues you're waiting 5 seconds for your railgun to recharge. Often times in a battle, its a fraction of a second that determines your success. M1 Railgun = 80-120 dmg and 8.3 shot/min. M1 Smoky (which is unlocked over 100k xp earlier, and 2k+ crystals cheaper) deals 23-28 dmg and 32.3 shot/min. Meaning you shoot smoky 4 times for every 1 shot of railgun. ~110dmg for smoky (with a 6%crit chance x 4 shots) so 32% chance to deal 128crit dmg... using a more versatile weapon. Plus with smoky, if someone spawns in your face while capping the flag or for whatever reason you're at the enemy base, if you're lucky, you can get a crit as soon as they spawn and they die immediately without even having the chance to shoot you. Giving you a great laugh and them a WTF haha. Railgun shots are easily anticipated with that charge up animation, and you blow your cover of where you are shooting from as well. You also can flip your own hull easily, especially if combined with an enemy shot.

This is why I'm considering Thunder > Railgun for my next weapon purchase. Thunder is the next closest thing to Smoky, but with splash dmg instead of crit.

The only other useful guns to defeat people with an Isida behind them is the freeze and firebird really... but you usually require a fast hull with those weapons... meaning low hp... meaning 2 thunder shots (or whatever the isida is healing) and you're dead lol.

I dislike twins for this reason as well, unless you're standing out in the open for a prolonged period of time, its impossible to deal damage. With twins, to deal damage is to be damaged. It almost demands double armor drugs if you're on a light hull. But then again, any weapon is good with drugs... With a light hull, this results in a horrible K/D and people stealing your kills because you died before you could inflict enough damage to them. Also, anyone vs twins, all they have to do is use cover to their advantage, and only pop out when their weapon has reloaded, again severely hindering twin's dmg output. Their lack of range is another problem.

In order to have the highest score to be rewarded for your game time, is to make use of every single second in each battle. If you're an Isida, it means to never allow your turret to be fully charged, always constantly healing or dealing dmg. If you're a longer range weapon, it means not to miss a single shot, and you should constantly be shooting at something, nonstop. With twins, this is difficult to do in team games in medium/large maps because in order to deal damage, you have to be 1)close enough 2)basically in the open. So you 1)waste time moving in close enough to deal damage (smoky/thunder can shoot from long distances meaning no time is wasted) and 2)you are gonna die soon enough, so you have to get back in to the action up close, wasting more time.

Sorry if any of this was 'off topic' but I got to thinking and this wall of text just sort of appeared. Im sure this would be useful though to people considering which weapon to use, and it helped me think clearer in making decisions for myself by putting it down in writing.

I tried to go on test server once but it said I needed a code or something? I looked around on the internet for a code and was unsuccessful. If this test server is accessible to all players, could you give me a code then? Or tell me where to find one?

Aah, you like long stories, just like I do, but then ever more ;)

1. Test server is mostly locked with a invite code. If it's open for testers and closed again, code is made invalid immidiatly.

2. Wasp+Smoky is acctually a good combo, sure when you're having criticals. If you're used playing with a combo, you're unstopable, so if you

want that, take it. Against Thunder, nearly only another Thunder is the best enemy. But of course you can kill them with other guns. Critical hit and railgun shots

are both very anoying, for an attacker with the flag, it's waste of health, so Thunder would be my last option after Railgun. But if you prefer Smoky, just take, no matter

what.
