Ok, Goldy. You're on an island (You know the type- a nice beach, rocks on the shore, palm trees and things like that). Next to you is an elephant. After a short discussion you got him to stop bouncing. Now, your task is to measure how heavy the elephant is. You have the following items: A bucket of paint, a brush, a boat and a scale that measures up to 100kg. How will you do it?

Oh, I see. In my place, I live near Moscow, the weather is beautiful, a lot of worm and sunny days. :P Good question! I have about six or seven thousands posts in russian forum from... 30 accounts :D How long do you play tankionline? I have been playing this game for about 4 years now. and can't to get the Marshall, it is terrible!! >( Wouldn't you want learn Russia language?

Sounds good! And that's quite a few posts and accounts you've got there :P I've been playing for over 3 years now, and have the same problem as you! Hmm, I might want to learn the Russian language sometime, depends if I'm ever interested in going over to Russia to work or live there.

Why is your topic so popular?

No idea, but I'm glad I've had the opportunity to answer all these questions, lol - it's been an interesting topic for me at least, hopefully it has been for others too!

Herd of ISIS yet Gold?

Yes, I heard about it quite a while ago, and we've studied the issue in our Religion lessons in school. Needless to say, they're definitely using the wrong means in attempting to achieve their aims...

k

i hv one last request 2 make cn u post a REAL pic of u

We'll see in the future, as I already said :P

DO you prefer penguins or pizza?

Got to admit, a bit of roast penguin is nice every now and then, 'specially with some tomato sauce... But the humble pizza wins it for me. After all, we have to make an effort to save the pizza outlets from melting, what with global warming and all...

Please, I am just telling you to PM me your photo Please Please Please Please Please!

I would post a photo in Real Photo if I wish to, I'd rather not start up a 'PM-photo' service, lol...

How is school in Britain? What does a common school day/week look like?

School in Britain is decent I guess, most of us have to wear a formal uniform to school (so that consists of a blazer, tie, shirt, formal trousers and shoes) which isn't always too popular. Usually, we should get to school around half-past eight in the morning, and school ends for me at half-past three in the afternoon. Quite a few lessons are devoted to the 'core' subjects such as Maths, English and the sciences, but we're also allowed a good variety of other subjects, many of which we get to choose at various points. I've got major exams around May/June and 'mock' (practice) exams for those in December, so a lot of our time is going into revision of past topics at the moment, which isn't always that interesting.

wt should i buy thunder m2 or rail m2?

i use dictator m2 & i dont evn hv rail m1

Both are really good M2 weapons. I'd argue that Thunder is perhaps a little more effective with Dictator than Railgun is at that level, but if I were you, I'd make that choice based on which weapon you like more. Because both of them are effective!

he lives in britain?? :o

Yes, I do ^_^

Fen, an answer to your question is coming up shortly.

Firstly, I'd like to say that I did catch your amusing reference to a certain account in your question :P Anyway, the solution...

- Put the boat in the water, and put the elephant on the boat.
- Mark where the water comes up to on the boat, using the paint and brush.
- Remove the elephant from the boat.
- Use the 100kg scale to measure out 100kg amounts of the rocks on the shore (or more accurate amounts if needed), and add these amounts to the boat until the water comes up to the paint mark for when the elephant was on the boat.
- The number of 100kg amounts of rock (or the total weight of the rocks you put on the boat) you put on the boat is equal to the weight of the elephant.

Warning: this'd require me to have a lot of time on my hands, too!

in the future?

Yes - I didn't specify when since I don't know myself ^_^

Nice work, Goldy. Which law of physics did you use there?
Now for the next question:
You have 80 marbles. One has a different weight from the other 79. You have a classic scale and with only four measurements you need to find the faulty one. You can use any number of marbles per measurement.

Example: 40-40, 20-20, 10-10, 5-5. (this however gets you to a 1 in 5 chance)

Archimedes' principle.

And as for your second problem:

Your question does not make it clear whether the 'odd marble' is heavier or lighter than the others. That would therefore require an extra step for me to determine, which means I wouldn't be able to do the question in 4 steps (or that I'd only be able to do so with half as many marbles). Therefore, for the purpose of answering this question, I will assume that the marble is heavier, and so I would not need an extra step to determine on which side of the scale it lies.

Well, since we have only 4 steps in which to do this, the fourth root of 80 is 2.99 (to 2 decimal places), which I'll say is practically 3. To me, this seemed like too much of a coincidence to ignore...

- Therefore, I'll divide my pile of 80 into 3 groups which are as equal as possible, and these would be 27:27:26. I will then put 27:27 onto the scale (leaving the 26 marbles at the side) - if the piles weight the same, the odd marble is in the 26 pile, else we know which 27 pile it's in (for that would be heavier than the other). As you can see, I can still find where the odd marble is out of three piles by measuring the two equal piles, and my 'fourth root' coincidence of before helped me to stumble across this finding.

- If the odd marble is in one of the 27 piles, I would divide the pile like so: 9-9-9, and I would again measure the first two piles to determine which pile it's in. If the odd marble is in the 26 pile, I would divide the pile like so: 9-9-8, and would measure the first two piles to determine which pile it's in.

- If the odd marble is then in a pile of 9, I would divide the pile into 3-3-3 and measure the first two to determine where the odd marble is. If it's in the pile of 8, I'd divide it into 3-3-2 and measure the first two to determine where the odd marble is.

- Finally, if the odd marble is in a pile of 3, I would divide the pile into 1-1-1 and I'd measure the first two marbles to determine which one is the odd marble. If the odd marble is in the pile of 2, I'd divide this into 1-1 and measure both of the marbles to determine which is the odd marble.

To summarise, my steps would be:

27-27-26, 9-9-9/9-9-8, 3-3-3/3-3-2, 1-1-1/1-1 (a complete chance of getting the odd marble at the fourth step).

^Imagine if that is Fen-Harel homeowrk ( if he go to school )

These questions are stuff he's tried as part of classwork, so he says. Though I have helped with Maths homework of his on Skype :P

Hi! May I still your idea for our russian forum? I want to start the same topic there :)

Of course. I request that you do these two things as well:

- Please include my username with the link to my profile in the topic, say something like: "Special thanks to @GoldRock for the idea!" but in Russian of course.

- Please include a link to this topic, like this: Ask Me Anything! (EN Community).

These are the forum codes you would need to do so.

For my username:

[member='GoldRock']
For the link to this topic:

Ask Me Anything! (EN Community)
I don't think these are unreasonable requests. Good luck with the topic in the RU community, I'm looking forward to seeing it - make sure you post a link here when you make it! :)

What will you buy at the upcoming Tankmen's Day Sale?

A score multiplier pass, most likely... I spent 400,000 crystals during the free speed-up + 25% MU sale, which means I only have 30,000 crystals for this sale.
