The (unknown) pain of the anti-flood for regular players

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Our chatmods and consultants are immune for the newly introduced anti-flood system, simply because they cannot help people or give bans where necessary. I was a chatmod until a week ago, so I lost my immunity for this system. Now that started bothering me. I got a couple of points I would like to point out.

1. Tanki has launched this system to stop flooders from flooding our chat. The idea sounds great, because yes, there are flooders. There is a bad side on it, the normal players who are trying to have a normal conversation cannot have this normal conversation, they're being stopped. Now when we check on who gets the most damage out of this.

2. ''Famous'' people. I can say that I am quite known in the Dutch community. When I start talking in the Dutch server, I get at least 4 people talking to me. How do I ever answer all of them correctly if I cannot talk? It leaves 2 or 3 of those people unanswered, simply because before I managed to get the answer posted, I got new questions by the other players. I think a chat is to talk, unlimited. It's cool that there is an anti-flood, but this anti-flood has more of a ''stop-the-big-chats-system'' or a ''Don't-make-fun-in-the-lobby-chat-because-you-can't-type-so-fast-system'' (Fun as in just enjoying a chat with your friends).

Flooders are mainly kids who have no idea they are doing wrong, this is their mind, they don't know they're wrong. More mature people wouldn't flood, at least not the ''#@!^SAG#GASd''-thing. Now, how many of these kids do we actually have? I think we have way more mature people than such kids out here. In fact this system damages all of tanki's meeting, because yes, people do meet in the chat, and when you are such a fast typer as I am... it annoys you a lot. I can see the difference, as I had immunity, and I was shocked by this system when I firstly got to use it.

My suggestion is that Tanki redesigns the system, or at least removes it until there comes a better version, because hey! There certainly is a difference between a fast-chatter-who-chats-with-multiple-people, and a flooder, and now we've got the ''fast-chatter-who-chats-with-multiple-people'' hurt. From experience I can say that flooding is only a small piece in tanki. Some censored words on profanity would do better, and I think I can speak for all when I say that we rather have some flood than a limited chat.

Thank you.

Unfortunately most of the chat has absolutely nothing to do with what is going on in the battle.  I do not know about the non English chat but if people just got on with the job in hand it would be better for all.  Making complaints, giving strategy, advice, warning , great but not what someones music collection contains while losing the game.

I will not post an opinion on this, because I belong to an other part of tanki players, the one that never uses the main chat channel.

To me, chat is just a waste of space and bandwidth.

I don't say it's generally bad, just for me and whoever don't use it.

I'd rather have a clan chat channel visible only to clan members, or a friends chat channel I can open at demant or will, than a constantly operating chat window on my screen.

Just mentioning... :)

There should absolutely no limitation on the subjects we're talking about, as long as it's ethically correct. It's a chat, we're supposed to chat, meet and have fun, right?

Joost...everything you said was true!!! Btw good to see you back! I thought you stoped being active in the forum and game :)

thanks :D I am not inactive, just almost not active anymore.

I'm jealous that mods have immunity :c

Me too, consultants and mods are people, as well as we are, they behave, we behave, we should not be limited.

I am sorry but I do not agree.  Their ought to be a separate, totally different place, for chat and senseless gossip, I would support that.  People nattering on constantly during the game, at the expense of play and everyone else in the team, often result in lost games that could easily have been won.  I have nothing against chat as long as it does not interfere with play but it does.

I'm with you, this system is really annoying when you are a fast typer and you're talking to multiple people, you have to wait 5/6secs every message before you can send it, so annoying  -_-

You're right, some people I talk to post long speeches and I go to battle when they haven't even finished. We should let the developers have a chat with someone while not being immune and see how they like it :D It's honestly quite painful.

This is actually about the lobby-chat, not the in-game chat. I agree with you that when you are in a battle, that there should be played, and not be chatted, but my idea is just for the lobby chat.

I totally favour you. But I doubt the developers will enact this.

I was hoping for some reply from their side, as this thing bothers like everybody who chats on the lobby with still good intentions.

Also, this anti-flood system is not enabled in-game but only in the lobby, so no need to change something about the in-game chat.

I Agree As You Gotta Wait For Your Words....If You Type Fast It Goes Like 3 Min To Send....The Anti-Flood System Should Have a Dictionary Thingy...That If Player Saying So Many Things That Dont Match There...That Be Warned Or Banned From The Chat...Also The Dictionary Should Have Some Slang Words As I Know So Many Dont Talk Like Formal...

I Think This Is The Best Idea For Fixing It As Dictionaries Are Avaiable Everywhere And Making This system I Dont Think Wants a Very Very Lot Of Time....And You Should Open a Post Where User Post Their Usually Slang Words And They Can be Easily Added To The Dictionary..As They Are a Little Text File....

This Is Better Than Current Antiflood System Cuz "Hi My Friend-Hw R U?-Im f9 TNX" Can Be Simply Differed By Those who Say"AJAJAJAJA@!$@#$@#$AJAJAJASOOOOOOS"

Please Consider This Idea...

Wow, someone that has a sane mindset for once in the community.

It is such a burden. I can barely hold conversations with 2 or 3 people at once, let alone 6 on a popular day. Even IF most of the chat has not much to do with a battle (@ELIZABETH1122), Tanki is still a hangout-fun game. It should not be only about strategy, but more about hanging out of friends and making the most out of the time you get to spend with them.

Joost, thanks for this topic to bring awareness to this inconvenience. But unfortunately, at the expense of keeping flooders to a minimum, I doubt that the developers will do little to any about this situation.

In the end, the question is, does Tanki really put the community first?

Nice joostcool I see way to many people saying "Gold Box Gold box" in battle multiple times and he/she walks away without a ban and in the chat I saw a Tanker talking to 3 People at once,he came out with an hour ban....
