Rico?

Is it just me, or are battles being dominated by ricochets lately? Five, even six on a team.

 

Developers, the rico is too strong. Don't you see people noticing? The worst of it is the rico seems to make for bad play, as in no-skill required. Most rico drivers never seem to turn their turret, and they fire wildly, counting on the bounces to find an opponent, any opponent.

 

I'd vote for eliminating it all together, but I doubt that will be considered.

 

First, and most, the bounces MUST deteriorate the damage of the plasma ball. I suggest 12% per bounce. That will force users to actually aim instead of counting on slop and luck.

 

Second, and almost as importantly, the clip size has to be reduced, probably to half, at least a third less.

 

The impact force and damage per shot need to be lowered a little still, too.

 

Finally, the plasma ball diameter is too big.

Your suggestions are outrageous. This will make Ricochet completely useless. As for the loss of damage with contact of walls, that's the main characteristic of Ricochet and its like that for a reason. Clip size is perfect just the way it is. The amount of shots is perfect for balanced gameplay. Any less will make the gun underpowered, and any more will make it too powerful, the same concept applies to damage. As for the impact force, I assume the reason you want it decreased is because it makes you unstable. well, just about any turret has the same effect (at least on light hulls.) and there has never been any problems concerning impact force of turrets. The diameter of the plasma balls being decreased would make Ricochet require more accuracy, which is not what it was designed for, hence the ability for the plasma balls to ricochet off of walls.

If you've played with Ricochet, you will understand that it is quite hard to master because of it's reload. This is why Ricochet's balls deal lots of damage so it makes life easier for the player using it. If Rico was any less powerful, no one would buy it.

I agree with your points.  Ricochet has by a wide margin the highest dps of any ranged turret.  It has very high sustained impact force only rivaled by twins but at a much higher range.  I die more easily to it than any other gun regardless of what equipment I happen to be using at the time.  Still it is far from gamebreaking and the proposed changes seem a bit extreme.

 

 

Actually, the game isn't dominated by ricochets. It's dominated by thunders.

I don't think the entire game is dominated by hunters, only for the ranks around first lieutenant due to the popularity of the m2 kit.  If anything dominates it is railgun, if only because they seem to outnumber all other turrets two to one.

you are absolutely right that Ricos don't turn their turrets 95% of the time. it makes them easy to kill. Rico will be my weapon of choice when I rank up enough to get an m3.  ricos are wimps without turret work .  Alll the weapons are balanced pretty good but its your technique for dealing with ricos   that make you more vulnerable. Ricos are mid range weapons so get close or far away  if you want to win against then

First of all, yes Ricochet is overpowered and they might wanna change that, but your plan to decrease more of the damage per bounce is ridiculous.

If this ever gets implemented, people will use even less skill on it by not making it bounce on the walls and just shoot people head on. Why do you think the name of the weapon is ricochet?

Actually, rico is an UGLY turret. (Freeze too btw).

It's powerfull and at my rank (and little above for I usually play with higher ranks) one sees very often VIKING with rico M3... Thanks God that many rico users are noobs and don't turn the turret... if they would, there would be no escape LOL.

@OKDad70: Maybe Rico is a bit Overpowered, but I your suggestion makes it far too weak.

And did you suggest eliminating the bouncing effect? That's the whole of Ricochet, hence the name. :P

Nope... it's ugly. Way too cartoonish. Looks like a candy or a Louis XV ' degenerate piece of furniture.

Rail is a decent looking weapon, thunder rocks, isida is ok, but rico is just ugly.

(I hope rico's next generation will be more elegant)

dude i dont know where you play but i will find you and play there too :D

but anyway... i see most freezers and fires in battles . and thunders and shafts. and smokys . and ricos too . but i rarely see 5 ricos in battle. i see like 5 isidas in battle who attack me and get the flag ( 4 healing 1 wtf) so i dont know ... just ricos arent so popular nowdays

You need skill to be an effective Rico player. I personally love Rico's who don't turn their turret because it is easy to dodge their shots and kill them. Sometimes I go head on with a Rico and don't even get damaged. Just need to know how to deal with it, like anything else

For me, Ricochet is an absolutely amazing looking weapon. I am not a fan of Twins' look however. The barrels look too spread apart for me. :P

At M3, I love the "radar" looking device it has in the back, facing towards the camera. It gives it a very versatile and futuristic say about it. Not to mention at M3, the power matches its awesome look. Heh. :D

 

Anyways, I re-read this topic, and he wants to decrease the damage with each bounce? But that's the whole point of Ricochet, the bouncing. . .

If anything, the bouncing should be encouraged, as that will bring out Ricochet's full potential. Don't you just hate a professional Ricochet that knows how to aim? Can't necessarily escape from it that easily.

My idea ricochet's range is much, one shots are weak and clip size is too much.

 

With fire time damage is nearly same as twins but with range, much powerfull.

Twins looks more good, not problem but range is much.

Wouldn't decreasing damage be a better solution?  Seems kind of pointless to have a high rate of fire, high damage, high impact weapon with the same range as twins.  We already have that, it's called twins.  Lowering the damage and/or impact force but keeping it somewhat higher than smoky would keep it viable, it'd still be the highest dps mid-range weapon, it'd still have full power bounce effect, and it would still be very difficult for an enemy to aim while under fire.

I want the damage of the plasma ball to reduce with each bounce, such that it is not doing damage after a half-dozen bounces or so. 

 

Some comments suggest some rico tankers are skilled. I've yet to face any. They count on the bounce making up for bad aim.

This idea is very bad. It's like saying railgun should not pierce, thunder should not splash, isida should not heal, twins should not let one of its gun fire, firebird should not burn, freeze should not freeze and shaft should not snipe. It's rico's main ability. If you can't handle rico, then get a protective paint.

rico is fine as it is now, I rarely see rico now after last turret adjustment,

 

railgun and fire and freeze are everywhere,

 

thunder and smoky and isida are 2nd popular, 

 

rico, shaft and twins are least popular in my rank.
