Upgrading for newbs

This is what I think about what to upgrade, not the general opinion:

Weapons:

Firstly, I think that M0 FIREBIRD is the best of the “base” weapons. I prefer it to both of M0 TWINS and M0 SMOKY. So I would say that firstly, you should get Firebird. But this depends on your own game-play. There is no “better” weapon, but I'd prefer Firebird. However, when you get to m3, M3 TWINS is better than M3 FIREBIRD. Under that (at m2, m1 and m0), I'd prefer Firebird.

Out of M3 SMOKY and M0 RAILGUN I'd say M0 RAILGUN. Although it is a worse weapon than the Smoky, you cannot upgrade the Smoky, while you can upgrade the Railgun. And railer is 3 times cheaper as well.

About how far to upgrade your base weapons, I'd say (with the exception of Smoky which is worse than the similar railgun) to m3. They are better value for money than the other, stronger weapons. So get your FIREBIRD, RAILGUN and TWINS to m3 if you like and are good at using them. If not, then forget about them.

M3 FIREBIRD is a better pick, in my opinion, then an M0 ISIDA. Even though you can upgrade your Isida, even at m1 it isn't a great weapon, and m2 costs a lot, so you can buy the Isida later if you want to use it. The Firebird will be stronger, give you far more kills, and although the Isida can heal, I would prefer the Firebird.

M2 RAILGUN is better than M0 THUNDER, even though it costs more and you can't upgrade it so much, it is still a lot better, but that is only my personal opinion, not everyone's.

That is as far as I will go, so to put it straight:

Firebird > Twins > Smoky

M3 Twins > M3 Firebird

M0 Railgun > M3 Smoky

M3 Firebird > M0 Isida

M2 Railgun > M0 Thunder

Tanks:

Firstly, at M0, TITAN is the best. It has the most life over M0 HUNTER and M0 WASP, and they all have similar speed.

There is a temptation when you see the success you get at m0, to upgrade your Titan. But an M2 HUNTER is the best over M2 TITAN or a M2 WASP as it has best all-round speed and health. When you get to the ranks to use these tanks, all-roundness is very important, so do not upgrade your Titan or Wasp, in my opinion.

The M0 of second-tier tanks are better and cheaper than the M3 of the first-tier tanks. So if you are close to the rank for M0 HORNET, don't get M3 WASP, and the same for VIKING/HUNTER and MAMMOTH/TITAN.

M2 HUNTER is probably a better choice than M0 DICTATOR because your M0 DICTATOR is only a little bit better than an M1 HUNTER, and 150 crystals for a tiny bit better is not worth it.

And M0 VIKING is better as a choice than M2 DICTATOR as it is far better value for money, both tanks being equal in strength (about) but the Dictator being 3 times more expensive.

That's as far as I will go, so, to sum up:

M0 TITAN > M0 HUNTER > M0 WASP

M2 HUNTER > M2 WASP > M2 TITAN

M0 SECOND-TIER > M3 FIRST-TIER

M2 HUNTER > M0 DICTATOR

M0 VIKING > M2 DICTATOR

Hope this helps.

I was playing with smokey till WO1, and was owning these m0/m1 railgun owners. You dont like smokey coz you dont know how to play for it. Also its depend on your tank, how many health it has.

My offer:

Playing in small maps - take firebird.

Playing in normal-long range maps - take smokey.

Dont waste your crystals for other guns till you get m3 your firebird or smokey, then you have to decide what your gaming style will be: railgun, isida, thunder and so on ..

Dude, I'm WO2 and I still play M3 Smoky, imho, Its the best gun out there for newbies low cooldown, high damage, fast spin, what else does a new player need?

And if you know how to use it, You can kill everything,As AvenTis said, you don't like Smoky because you don't know how to use it.

Ya I wud say that this is pretty bad advise

like I said, it's all about opinions. I bet no-one who posted their opinions would get some that everyone agrees to. So these are my opinions. Yes, they are not yours, I respect that. But no need to go slanging it because of a few things that don't agree with your opinions and/or other people's

When I used to use smoky i sucked, smoky doesn't annoy me when I play against it, and smoky users I see don't get much success. That makes me think that smoky isn't very useful or good. So that's why i prefer m0 railer

I am just going to do some quick math to show newer players why upgrading smokey is better than going to an M0 or even an M1 Rail.

Pricing:

M0 - M3 Smokey Total Cost = 420

M0 - M1 Rail Total Cost = 450

Smokey is Cheaper

Shots Per Minute:

M3 Smokey = 37.5

M1 Rail = 8.2

So M3 Smokey can roughly shoot 4 shots to every 1 Shot for M1 Rail

Max Damage:

So Let's look at Max Damage per shot using the 4 shots to 1 ratio

M3 Smokey Max Damage = 24

M1 Rail Max Damage = 51

4(24) vs 1(51)

96 vs. 51

NOTE: I use the 4:1 value because most early levels don't have units that have over 100 HP, so if you are in a "like Rank" game you won't need much more than 4 shots to kill your enemy.

So their you have it, a cheaper gun, and better gun for newer players. Add in the fact that you can redirect may units firing down on you and it does a fairly good job.

I personally prefer my M2 rail over the M3 smokey, but that is just a preference thing and I had amassed enough crystals to upgrade all the way to the M2 without any issues.

If you are just starting, just upgrade the smokey or make a quick move to another cheap gun and start amassing crystals if you want to move to rail.

Your welcome, figured I would just take the opinion out of it and give some raw data. Makes it easy. Should I just post this as a standalone new thread?

That is a totally moot point Skitee. If you are not making kills and getting flags with your M0 / M1 railer what does it matter? It just takes you longer to upgrade when you can be amassing crystals with your M3 smokey.

Essentially someone with a smokey can probably level up the rail gun much faster than you can because they actually make currency and you just have a cool sounding gun that can't kill squat.

ok, maybe so, but i dont think a m1 railer is that much worse than a m3 smoky, and they are different methods of gameplay (tho similar). so it depends what u are best at: i suck at smoky
