Mines

Recommended Posts

I have given some thought to the use of mines in the game, I would like to throw out a few idea which regarding them:

1) We need a way to deactivate mines. The military has mine removal equipment in reality, why shouldn't this game? Thinking about how this could best work and still be fair...thinking one of two ways: a) simply using your own mine ability near another mine and it would remove it. or placing your tank near a visible mine for 30 seconds (without hitting it) and without moving or shooting would deactivate it and remove it from the game. This would mimic the reality of having to spend precious time finding one and removing it in reality. You would have to remain vulnerable during this time spent getting rid of it.

2) Some boards there is just so much traffic that dropping mines is a complete waste, as they go away as soon as you die, and often you last only a few moments anyway. What about having them go away 60-90 seconds after you die, rather than at that instant?

3) they shouldn't give the placer a kill or points, when they blow up. As it is a passive weapon which requires no skill or effort, having them give a kill seems not in keeping with the intent of the game. When placed and used, they are a tool for changing how people play, and running around the board dropping mines shouldn't give someone a windfall of points when everyone else is trying to play with skill. Mine should simply be a tactic to affect game play, change how people move and delay tank and enemy movement in the game. This ties together item #1 with this concept.

4) your death notice should say you died by mine, sometimes you cant tell.

5) mines should affect all tanks, including team mates and yourself as they would in reality. If you place a mine and forget where you place it and you die as a result...too bad, you should be smarter about it. This would make people think twice about where and when they place them. They could screw up their own game or team by doing so. Be smart, don't just scatter them all over without thinking.

6) mines on hard surfaces roads, stone, concrete should be visible from a greater distance. You can bury a mine in stone or concrete therefore how can it be equally as concealed?

About number 1. There is a way to deactivate mines that have been placed. By killing the person who planted the mines. Say for example I placed 2 mines and you tried to enter my base to get to my flag, if you killed me, those 2 mines that I placed would be gone.

Ok Mines should not effect your own tanks Just because it is a completely idiotic idea considering why would u create a weapon which gets destroyed along with your own self destruction? And mines r used to guard bases u cant get out of your own base if u Die every time on your own team's mine

I think realism obsession is a kind of illness that kills the fun. Or else, let's remove wasp, hornet, railgun, rico, isida, freeze, smocky, most of the paints, pretty much everything... ;)   Consider it.

So, bad idea.

Mines are perfect as they are...

Exactly. Or maybe, they were perfect. Now, they participate in the horrible cooling time interaction and they are spoiled, like the other supplies.
