Higher level game balance

Recommended Posts

Been playing Tanki for a while now, having a great and fun time with it.

Though I am not at a super high level, I am now noticing the game dynamic is shifting as my level goes up (which is to be expected of course).

Starting to find that at higher levels the game just isn't as fun to play. No matter how much skill you have, its not fun getting plowed in one shot while someone camps and lays waste to the field. Especially true for those of us that like playing the little tanks At some point you are going to end up with everyone playing big tanks and big damage guns cause they have no other choice if they want to be able to survive and play. I know choosing a little tank is a trade off you would choose to make, the problem is that at these levels there is no upside whatsoever only cons.

In some ways I think that bigger hulls and bigger firepower turrets have too much advantage at these higher levels. I saved up for  week to get M1 and it made no difference whatsoever.

Just wanted to put it out there for comment or feedback.

You'd think that would be the case.  I personally prefer medium hulls because in an open field when no one misses I can two shot some of little tanks while they take half to a third of my health.  Add in cover, paints, and throwing off their aim and it all has a synergistic effect with the extra health.  But it is hard to argue that there is some sort of advantage when light hulls are overwhelmingly more popular at every rank I have seen.  They are never ineffective but you would expect more variation.  I think the vast majority of players use light hulls because of the speed, regardless of practical concerns many find it more fun to zip around the map, attack, and run flags.  Switching to a slower hull after playing one gives the impression of being stuck in molasses.  Plus if you can only own one hull they tend to be very versatile for several weapons.
