Upgrade/Update Point System for defenders in Flag games

In majority flag games, there are defenders with heavy tanks sitting and hiding in a corner. Now defenders are always present to stop the attacker from taking the flag but major points are awarded to those players who return the flag but not the shooters. So there comes partiality to the heavy tankers who are the core defenders. Its not fair. This way the defenders loose their trust in defending, and in most random games everyone starts crying and trying to capture the flag. And no-one even trusts defending!
My proposal is to update the system somewhat like this-

 

1) The defender who shoots the flag bearer, gets the major points than the returner, if the flag bearer dies in a close proximity of our flag post.

2) And if the flag bearer dies in an area far away from the flag post, then the points get divided in somewhat equal proportions.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.  Using shaft I have taken down countless Flag bearers, on some occasions have then taken out repeated attempts by the enemy to retake the same Flag and yet have taken no credit.  On many occasions have taken out the enemy Flag bearers at extreme range often under fire with no other team resource to do so.

Same here. I have done so much work using shafts but no credit. And the one who goes to capture the flag gets everything!

Even this can be added. If a person has killed multiple bearers for a flag that has not yet been returned. He should get a bit more points with every kill. This will attract more defenders! :p

The taking out of the Flag Bearer can often have a far more reaching effect, than someone just merely returning it.  An example, taking out a Flag Bearer at extreme long range just as the Flag Bearer is attempting to enter the safety of base, is more important or has more impact than some one just wandering by the flag and returning it when it is only just a few meters away, with no expense or cost to them.  Sometimes there might even be a hostile just waiting for the flag to return and just leaving it where it is for a short moment might be the best policy.  Their is often a rush to return the Flag even when it is in very close proximity to its base because of the reward.  It would make little difference if it was just left.  It would return all on its own in time in any case.  People often return the flag without looking to see that it will be safe, they just wander off somewhere else without even a glance.
