Where Should You Be When a Gold Box Drops?

 

Gold Boxes... probably the hottest topic in Tanki Online. Everyone talks about them and everyone hopes for them. We all know one thing... We want them! A question that doesn't come up very often but is actually pretty important is: exactly where on each map should you be when it drops? I intend to try to answer this question. I'll start out by giving suggested places to be on popular maps in this topic, and then I'll make more topics for other maps.

 

NOTICE: Before you move on, I'd just like you to be sure to remember that these are just my opinions on where you should be on each map. Just ideas. You'll probably disagree with some of them, but that's perfectly fine with me. Opinions won't always be agreed on. Something else I'd like you to keep in mind is to remember that some of these places can easily be inconsistent when catching Gold, particularly on maps where they drop at zones where catching them is pretty much all luck. Also, where you should be will always depend on where the enemy is. For example, you shouldn't be out in the open in Polygon. The more obvious you are, the bigger chance you'll have of being attacked!

i would suggest that you should add a para for each map explaining the position EG:

this is the place you would want to be to catch a gold box in mid air, i suggest that you should have a light hull to jump the distance . in the case of medium hulls, stand on the top of the ramp for blue team and the bottom for red.

That's cool! But positions vary depending on which team you are right? And surely there's not just one best position to be in? If anything it depends on where everyone else is!

You may take note that all of the screen shots are taken while in the Death Match mode, implying that the above shown positions may be taken without the implications of being on a team.

If I may, about the map Esplanade. It's not the best position. Because a lot of tanks will use the small ramps to fly on top of others. Also, there is another spot, very far away of the one in center.

I guess I picked the spot that I picked because when I'm there, usually only a couple/few people are there with me and when they try to come up the ramps, I block them by pushing them right before they can get into the air. Maybe sometime I could even end up on top of them. But you're right, tanks can definitely come up the ramps and push you or get on top of you.

 

I also understand that there are two other spots where Gold falls, but I picked the center because (I think) most of the crystal boxes drop there.

Take a place that you will be alone, and dont need to push or kill others for the gold.. Sometimes Im lucky with this tactic.

In high rank battles, most of the time, it's a no kill period during Gold. So there are tanks on the 3 ramps, and when Gold comes, everyone jump on it :D In your spot, it's easy to get it if there are only Viking and Hornet. But most of the time, there are also Dictators and Titan.
