SHaft, Railgun, and Isida Teammates

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow tankers, this is Heavywater. I`ve been noticing a lot of tankers not knowing what teammates are even for(that is if you do team battles). I know that this topic has been put up a lot, so I`ll just refresh the topic, one again. I am also fairly new but experienced woth tactics, so please dont judge me so harshly on some info.

Teammates are what changes the tide of the battle. Know your role in the battle. Isida is the team`s medic, but pro Isida tankers roll with a light hull, and know how to dodge.Shaft is the team`s line-of sight-direct-hit artillery, as well as counter-sniper force. Twins and ricochet can be used as supressive fire/flanking fire; twins are better for direct-line-of sight and harassing, while ricochet is good for forcing enemies to stay out in your teammate`s firing range longer.   Firebird is good for hit-run tactics, as well as annoying enemy isidas due to the burn damage and the capacity to deal damage to many with just a few jets of napalm. Freeze is good for 1v1 fighting, but is also effective at annoying the enemy when deployed on many targets, further enhancing your team`s ability to capture the flag/do a raid. Railgun is quite a sniper, but is also effective at medium ranges when used correctly. Smokey can be used for those times where you don`t know which gun to use, as well as those times you want a more versatile role with a good rof. Thunder is an explosive and slower shooting smokey, so you can aim at groups and hit enemies behind walls.

Here are some 3 types of teammtes you will have.

Shaft-

-Very good damage

-Very careful(at least the good ones)

-Quite manipulative

-Scary

-* Often gets angry when a teammate bumps into them while they are sniping.

-Prone to flanking

-Somewhat creative with sniping spots

As we can see here, Shaft is the main source of damage. They specialize in area denial, and require some sort of manipulation force to use. The best thing you can do to this sort of teammate is to let them do their job, not bump into them, not get into their line of sight, and to NEVER FIRE ANY NON-ISIDA BEAM AT THEM. Trust me, a freeze gun firing behind the shaft could blind your much-needed sniper, making the sniper`s role harder for them.

Isida-

-Team`s primary healer

-Good at flanking(at least the professionals)

-Good at ambushing

-*Sometimes gets angry when teammates want a full 1% hp -100% hp heal in the middle of battlefield, exposing healer and healing target

-A) Hangs behind friendly lines. Their job is strictly heal

 B) Hangs near front lines. Heal and damage

 C) Hangs behind enemy. Roams around. Heals only when nessescary

D)(the noob) Does not know Isida can heal.

Isida is extremely important in team battles. The professionals are masters at circle-strafing a bigger, tougher, enemy, while keeping their team alive. As such, Isida should be a priority target, unless your Shaft gun can destroy a target in 1 hit. But the Isida should be public enemy no 1, period. Their ability to heal makes them a huge threat. Keep some pressure on them, and they would minimally impact their chances of winning. Isida keeps your team in the fight longer.

Railgun-

-Very well-rounded, esspecially at long ranges

-shoots faster than a shaft in sniper mode

-reload time is not very good

-*Gets angry when teammate touches them while they are charging up

Railgun, ahh, the gun with rails. having a railgun on your team makes some sniping ability as well as some flanking ability. They are fine with an area denial job, although they would be better off moving around the battlefield as a scout-sniper. Just never touch them, or they will waste a well-charged, timed, and aimed shot.

as i mentioned above, I`m fairly experienced with tactics, but also fairly new. So try to not be so judging on this matter.

Well said, I totally know the feeling when I'm a shaft about to shoot and then somebody bumps me or runs right in front of me. Or with railgun when somebody bumps you or starts pushing you because they want to get to other side of you. SO ANNOYING!!

I absolutely hate it when somebody bumps into me when I'm in scope mode with Shaft. Earlier today, I was on a Monte Carlo CTF, and there was one WO2 player with Hornet-Rico who kept on pushing and firing at me. I ended up having to push him off the map (M1 Dictator's pushing power right there) to get him to stop.

Same goes for Railgun. Never touch a Railgun when they're aiming or charging a shot.

Shaft or the noob tube is the most dumbest weapon in tanki. The only thing it does is taking away the well earned skills you already have and making you a worthless noob with any other turret.... Well written article though! Keep it up!

I disagree. I use a wide range of turrets and hulls, and using Shaft quite often has not dulled my skills one bit. It's also often not as easy as it looks; have you tried sniping somebody from across the entire map when only a small amount of their tank is visible?

I have and believe me it will get worse when you rank up and when u understand the fact that you can compete with the skill level of others.

I'm already playing with relatively high ranks (Major and up) fairly often, OK? I don't use Shaft all the time either; I still manage to get good scores with M1 Railgun, M1 Thunder, and M1 Smoky. While I suppose that very heavy use of Shaft can make you a bit complacent if you decide to use something else, it's not a problem if you diversify your turret usage.

Also, do you have a high account? If not, you can't say from experience that it'll get harder as I rank up.

-____- if you think shaft is useless i don't blame you as your rank reflects how much of a noob you are. I have m2 shaft and at first it was THE WORST nut after a day i was really good at it, it takes more then camping like a scared cat to master this weapon. Dont insult a weapn you suck at

What makes you think you're such a pro? Come lets have a 1 v 1 with rail hornet M0 (with you ALT of course) and let me show you how much of a noob you are and what shaft has made out of you through such a long time. The only way thing shaft is good at is making the user of it a noob.

I wouldn't say that. There are quite a few players (@SmexyGiraffe comes to mind) who use Shaft as an offensive weapon; they move around with light hulls and quick snipe people who come in their way. That method is actually exceptionally hard, so people who do well with it must be doing something right.

SmexyGiraffe's also pretty handy with a Railgun as well, so her skills do not appear to be dulled whatsoever by her use of Shaft.

i have seen the strategy you have mentioned but it only works when your both drugged and you have an enemy team with low skills...

Not always. I was in a game with a few of my friends and SmexyGiraffe in a Desert DM a few months ago (this was before the drug update, so there were plenty of druggers out there). A large proportion of the players in the battle had M2s and were drugging heavily. SmexyGiraffe was using M1 Hornet/M1 Shaft, I think, and didn't use that many supplies. She still managed to do very well in the battle, keeping a good D/L and body count.

Why only three? Is the topic unfinished?

Anyway, one more point you should include for Isida. When you attack with an isiad healing you from behind, you need to take care to protect your isida from non-penetrating guns (smoky, twins, thunder, isida, ricochet). When you are fighting with another tank, the more experienced players will try to shot the isida that's behind you first and then deal with you if they have HP left. You must try as much as you can to stop the enemy damaging your isida. Push and block them with your tank so that they shoot you instead and the isida heals you, while being safe behind your hull.

I am a pro shaft player and the one thing I hate while I am sniping is when a teammate bumps into me while I am in sniper mode. STOP pushing a shaft player who is standing still. he is not doing anything he is just waiting for some to be destroyed in his scope.

Agreed. In my opinion, you don't learn anything by destroying enemies in 1-2 shots while NOT getting shot. I don't use shaft and I'm like the only player that uses the turret, and I can see like an eagle

İ used twins, smoky, shaft, isida, firebird and railgun. And shaft is most complicated gun in these
