Things happen, some have many answers, and some don't.

They do get less XP when they kill a player without the flag.

They drop the flag because they think their team mates are there, or just because they don't want them to get more XP.

This is an XP battles topic, not a place to discus rules.

 

I've been dropping flags back when I had an M3 freeze firing at me at Silence II. Even though I didn't go so slow I Dropped it anyways. The landmines would have killed me too.

Yes, and people loose flag for that purpose. That shows people are so jealous that they don't even want a player to get 10 extra points.

Sometimes when dropping the flag before getting killed makes it easier for your team members to take the flag. 

1) Your death corpse won't hinder your team members to take on the flag.

2) When a team mate is waiting on the spot where enemy flag stands normally, he can take the flag faster since your enemy returns the flag earlier.

It can also make the enemy miss the shot on you.

I personally do the same thing in regular battles because the enemy gets less points if you dont have flag

i would always drop the flag when i was going to be killed cause it's going to be returned anyway(no team mates nearby) but i didn't knew they'd lose xp :D

I too do the same thing but sometimes I hide the flag :P . by that enemy looses Xp and our team get more points

Some players are jealous ,when I bring flag near to our flag some people try to push me out of floor or make me flip its irritating I hate it
