Sniper awarding

Isidas are awarded for team play. That's fine.

I'm a shaft sniper. Sometimes my D/L factor is over 30 at the end of a fight. Still in the points I'm below players who captured the flag twice or thrice. I made them able to do that and it's not my job to take the flag. I don't think it's fair. Any improvements on this, please?

Capturing flags is the main task in CTF battles, so it makes sense that people get more points for it as it's what brings the team victory. I don't know about you, but most shaft snipers see in battles just shoot off random targets, rather than defending the flag or helping the attackers.

Agreed. I have watched teammates be careless about flag stealers, and in my opinion, shafts should not be allowed in CTF because everybody should fight as a team.

I agree with MAFIOZA, too.

Playing CTF with shaft means that you have to shoot valuable target for the team, not for yourself. It is better to avoid greedy kills and save the shots to help your team: provide cover fire for flag carrier, protect your flag and so on. Score will increase and final reward will be good enough. Having huge D/L does not mean that you have been useful for your team during the match.

Ah, for the record: I am a shaft player (let’s say 90% of the time).

Thank you for all the replies.

I agree that capturing the flag is the main target in CTF but I would also like to point out that it is team work in team battles and different turrets have different roles in that (I guess that's the point of having different turrets anyway, right?). For long range turrets it does not make sense to go near the flags, one point in the game is also to stay alive and therefore to be able to help your team mates more. And yes, I try to kill enemies near my team mates at both ends and during the way they transfer the flag (that's what I meant by saying "I made them able to do the captures" :) ). So, as the flag capturing is team work, I still think that all parties helping in that task should be awarded. And I agree it should be differentiated from just shooting random targets and getting a high D/L that way.

In fact, I came to a little second thoughts of those "random" shooters. First of all, it would be very difficult for the game to know what is random and what is not. And secondly, every enemy will ultimately try to get to our flag anyway, so the sooner it is killed the better, I think. Unless it is also a sniper, but also in that case it would be very beneficial for us to get it destroyed as soon as possible. Furthermore, one skill of a good sniper is to find a good hide. From there he cannot control the whole battlefield. Maybe another sniper will be needed to control the other flag (team work again :) ).

Sometimes If you are saving the flag with freeze or shaft, your tammates give you the flag to capture it for the defending.  :P

Good point about team work. But snipers usually stay at a safe distance, so waiting for them to finish the capture is dangerous.

Yeah, and they're definitely not gonna go to that one sniping spot to find you and give you the flag to reward you for sniping.

I bet if you jump over a shaft and give him the flag in mid-air, he won't even notice and will continue standing there...  <_>

I have seen several CTF where snipers made the difference between winning and losing.

The main use of snipers here is to stop enemies from capturing the flag, and to kill enemies who are chasing your own teammember who has the flag.

I am not sure how the game can measure this.

Perhaps....

1. Bonus for killing any enemy inside of a 20 meter circle around your own flag. This will help not only snipers but also it will help 'freeze campers' who sit on the flag with a mammoth and a freeze gun (which can also make a difference in CTF).

2. Bonus for killing enemy who is within 20 meter circle of your teammate, if your teammate is carrying the enemy flag.

All that being said, I don't think its that big of a problem anymore since the supplies system has changed.

i think there should be additional score award for killing enemy near the base.

i use rail hornet for CTF,

I will the shaft teammate can help clear the freeze at enemy base , or high damage like thunder rail fire isida target that defending enemy base.

so the flag catcher can deal with only one freeze with double power and run away from enemy base without much trouble.

=--------------------------------

i normally pass the flag i got to base defender who put lots of mines on our base, normally freeze or twins on mammoth players, or base healers.

shaft normally busy aiming the target, so not much chance to pass flag to them,

----------------------------------

it also depends on personal goal, if you goal is to have fun, then just focus on killing enemy only.

if your goal is to rank up and xp, then just focus on killing

if your goal is to get crystal, then dont use shaft in CTF or just play TDM

In Stadium CTF, I usually guard the flag with my Shaft M2, waiting for enemy to pounce on the flag. It's really profitable point-wise since EVERYBODY wants a flag capture in Stadium CTFs.

in sepruov.I generally kill the enemy when he is just going to deposit the flag for the team.gives my attackers that extra moment to retrieve our flag..

I believe Snipers/shaft have a huge role in ctf.it actually stops the attackers.

say in RIO.if you strategically place 2 snipers on each orners.you can actually stop people from taking the flag easily.

this game would be boring without sniping!

I'm with akhmatova.  In CTF, the highest reward should of course be for capturing the flag, but defenders should be rewarded for simply defending more than currently. Defenders shouldn't have to rely on the goodwill of team mates to occasionally give them the flag to capture, nice though this is. It should be built in.  A freeze who camps on the flag & places lots of mines will help his team enormously, but won't always get comensurate reward.

So extra points for kills near the flag, for example, or even more extra points for killing an opponent who has our flag.

With the new point distribution system it's really easy to get a high score on your team using shaft. I don't think there's a need for "sniper awarding" anymore.

There are definitely some ***** shafts out there who get in the way: camping on a choke point, focusing on flipped or disabled tanks, or taking a nitro right before they go sit and camp. Usually though it's only because they're noobs and don't know better.

it was already easy enough to kill steal with shaft anyway :P
