Kick system!

Recommended Posts

First of all, having a system that would kick players based on a single variable is

downight ignorant, not to mention irresponcible, especially with automated variables,

and again, ESPECIALLY with just one, because automated systems can be easily

abused. The best kick system in existence is the manual one, and it works something

like this:

When somebody notices an offender or cheater or abuser, they simply use the

"/votekick" command in combination with their name to start the vote. As soon

as the vote is started, all players on the map have about 15 seconds to make a

choice: SUPPORT the kick or DENY the kick. At least half of the players have to

provide a vote, otherwise the vote is automatically denied. Also, at least TWO

THIRDS of the players who voted have to SUPPORT the kick in order for it to be

accepted. In the end, when the votekick is completed, the offender in question

is either kicked or left to stay in the game, the player who submitted the vote

is muffled for 5 minutes, so he cannot start another votekick and abuse the system.

The idea of this auto system would be optional, when creating a battle. So no doubt there would still be battles to chose from that would not have automatic kick level included in the battle.

In your post you say the vote option works just fine, if only that was true I wouldn't have made this topic. No one uses it /vote system and cheats who cause sabotage get away with breaking the rules of Tanki.

In my previous post, I said: "The best kick system in existence..", that doesn't

apply to Tanki Online, unfortunately. The only kind of "option" players have in Tanki

is the "/vote" command, but that is pretty unreliable because it only notifies the staff

that someone has reported somebody else somewhere in some cluster of a server,

and that they need to intervene. Sadly, most of the time they don't have the time or

simply aren't in the mood to do it, not to mention that the only source of accusation

comes from the person who notified the staff in the first place, and most of the time

people tend to report others for the wrong reasons that aren't worth considering, so

sometimes reports go on being ignored unless several players in the same match

start reporting the same person... It's not the first game to have this problem...

Kicking is an issue that should be resolved immediately and by default, it shouldn't

even require staff interventions to begin with, and it shouldn't be subjective and tied

to only a single player. It's an automated process, it's quick and effortless, either the

supposed offender gets outvoted by everybody present in the game or doesn't, those

present players are the judge, jury and executioner...

The first game that has this kick system that comes to mind is Counter Strike,

or at least it had before the expansion came along, I don't know if it's still there

because I left the game ages ago, so maybe the devs should look there for a

proper example.

From what I've seen so far, it seems that the developers are really skittish

regarding control, most of the things that are almost taken for granted in other

games are just cut-off in Tanki, the "/votekick" option being the most obvious

one, and User Generated Content management being the second to that. It's

almost as if they don't trust the community just because all tools in existence

can be abused if they fall in the wrong hands. Maybe it's better to prevent any

kind of abusement before it's actually commited and cut the community completely

off... at least that seems to be their oppinion...

It almost feels like a chapter out of "Minority Report", only less extreme, since we

are treated like criminals before we commited the crime in the first place...
