Is Tanki Online really that amazing?

Okay, so I just didn't know how to name this topic, so, I just named it like that (derp).

While getting more into programming and 3D design, as well as understanding more about how servers work, Tanki Online doesn't actually seem that awesome. Just some 3D stuff (which can be developed and edited on Blender), some mechanics here and there, functions, textures and servers and done. As the game is going to move to Unity, it's probably going to be a bit of a different thing, but meanwhile, since Tank testing tools, Tank viewers and Box viewers are available to ANYONE (I have quite a lot of the new and the old versions of them), ergo, if you understand your programming, you could make a whole private server of TO from those tools within like a month or so.

I'm surprised that none has thought of this yet. In my opinion it is possible, but it would be sad, as it would probably corrupt tanki, if reprogramming of TTT went viral.

I'm feeling a bit shaky about the thought of it. What are your opinions, other tankers? By just buying a server, anyone could do this easily!

Tanki is an amazing game :) A good game doesn't necessarily have to be hard to design, have the best graohics, etc

That's not the point, he's trying to say that everyone with a little bit of knowledge about programming can copy and steal Tanki.

Yup. That was the point; Tanki is easily copied because the files and a lot of the programming is already in TTT, which is given to EVERYONE for FREE. This way, with TTT, a server and some multiplayer program change, TTT can become a customized TO. Like a test server that's always open. Devs thought they are so secure, yet they weren't, with the addition of this. And don't think that everyone is too lazy to do it; someone eventually will and then the game might just go down the drain. Muhahahahahaha....

Just like rocket science right!? Build a rocket, fuel it up, light it and send it to the moon! That sounds so easy ;)

well i would like to remember that any non-official server have costs, no one will spend energy and money on hardware, time on programming and such to make a free for all tanki server. it will be either too pricey or too laggy, if not both. also i think that they will get shut down in a clap of hands and sued whit a load of bad things no one wants to get sued whit.

You think it would be easy for someone else to simply program this game? The only information open to players about the coding of this game are the textures and props of hulls, turrets, and objects. Servers are expensive considering you will need over 30 large capacity servers to run a game like this. Servers also need to be programmed. Calculating location of tanks, calculating missed shots, etc. Is not easy. Beyond that, Tanki is Copyrighted.

Calculating missed shots? Not sure if that's too hard, since about half of the shots are already programmed in TTT, so missing and hitting a certain player: doesn't sound too complex. Sure it does require a lot of skill, but it would still be possible. Even just a private server.

Even if someone did do it, they would be put in jail for Copyright violation.
