Let's discuss the Supplies Tutorial Contest!

Ok, while I accept the decision of the judges, I rewatched Goldie's and MM2's guide again and I actually feel they do not really answer the challenges in terms of "using smart supplies smartly" or "smart cooldowns". Not complaining or anything and certainly no hard feelings to anyone, but I'm merely voicing my opinion.

Feel free to watch their guide again, slowly and pick out points that answer the challenges, any cordial response is appreciated. Goldie or MM2 any comment? Maybe I didn't watch your guide closely enough? :(

Once again, not trying to alter the decision, just a bit confused at the moment...

Oh, and has there even any decision as to whether the consolation prize winners get spectator mode?

Thnx for your time :)

May the force be with you!

Why does staff participate in contests? I mean come on you already get way more than other players. Let them have something.

I see this contest was not about the tutorial, cause only the "big names" got the prizes no matter how off track and off topic they were. This tutorial was about supplys but somehow players who talked mostly about tanks and paints won. Also my vid was watched 0:49 at most in Russia so idk what to say about the jury. Anyways got spit in the face again thanks for that.

Ikr, 3 out of 8 winning entries are made by moderators (37.5%). 3 moderators participated all 3 of them won (100%). And lastly the first prize were awarded to 2 players, both of them are moderators (200%). Well they work for Tanki let's just say they deserved the rewards.

At least you have 49 seconds, my video doesn't even have a single view from Russia LOL. Maybe they only watched the videos with most upvotes, who are posted by the 'big names' like you mentioned.

I watched some of the entries and most of them didn't, that's why I thought I stood a chance for consolation prize. I'm not complaining because I think I deserved the first prize but because personally I thought the winner is going to be either you or chullu.

If you read what semyon said, 'But the winning video took it a step further. This was a great combination of visuals, sound, graphics, commentary and tactical explanations. It was easy to watch and to understand. And that's exactly what a tutorial video should be' it's clear that they won because of the advantage of having spectator mode otherwise it's impossible to create that kind or 'visual'.

Conclusion, if you're going to take part in the master of parkour contest, you should team up with 3 moderators and ask someone with spectator mode to record it lol.  ;)

Boy.. this contest has a weird outcome.

I watched all videos and frankly, I don't think goldrock / Marine' s is the best. I mean it's  good, but certainly not special (apart from spectator's mode, which will be commented in a moment). Btw, Goldrock speaks a little too fast, and that's not very tutorial-like.. it's more  starladder speaker-like ;)

Being a staff member, however, is IMO indifferent for the contest.

There are a few great videos, but outstanding is the tutorial DarthvaderjonGTR made, a real winner. Close enough is the video that chullu made, both guys gave hard work and inspiration to the contest. One of them should be the winner.

As for goldrock / Marine' s tutorial, I think it's not only not the best video but it is not valid as well. Using the spectator mode, a facility others don't have makes somehow the contest "unequal".

No offence for these guys, I express my  candid opinion, since I don't personally know any of the participants and I have nor friends, neither enemies among them. (and I hope I don't make any enemies because of my opinion lol) :)

So, what really happened? Why the jury has come to this decision? I suspect because of the voice element. Maybe they didn't consider some voices authoritative enough... maybe. But what is one to expect in a contest for - mainly - young players?

I do not know why I am suddenly obliged to explain why my entry won. Your comments may not be intended to be offensive, but I find them so. I have my own opinions as to why I think certain entries (such as DarthvaderjonGTR's) didn't win - I could provide a full analysis of my own thoughts on the specific entries of others, including criticism - but I don't feel the need to point those out and publicise them. I spent many hours of planning, testing and recording on my video, I am sure those who entered can also appreciate that.

If you have complaints about the contest, cease using myself as a public scapegoat. I was hoping that I could celebrate my success in this contest in peace and that we could respect each other no matter the result, but apparently not - apologies if you think my entry is so bad. If anyone wants to have a sensible discussion about my entry without condescending questions or blaming other things ("They only won because..."), then please PM me and I would be more than happy to do so.

Please try to realise that it's not pleasant if everyone says "oh that guy shouldn't have won", without considering how that makes the person feel. Would you guys like it if you won, and others who entered said you cheated, your entry is not valid, you don't deserve it?

Good day to you, sirs.

If a winner is well-deserved, no one would say a word about it. The problem is not with you or your video but the judge's decision, so there's no need to feel offended with our comments. I know commenting here won't change the result, so no point to PM you as well.

If you think you're the well-deserved winner, then congratulation and enjoy. ;)

The decision has been made and I urge everyone to respect it, accept it and move on, despite any reservations one may have as to the outcome.Ranting and raging WILL NOT change anything, given that anything even needs to be changed in the firstplace. As to your response GoldRock, I feel that it was slightly uncalled for and bordering on uncivil. Other participants have put in effort to their entries as well and "justifying" your entry is a small price to pay for 100k crystals and a fully micro upgraded tank. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but everyone has a responsibility to keep it civil and cordial. Thank you Sir.

edit: I am actually surprised at your liberal usage of the downvote button. I for one, excersice extreme reservation when it comes to pressing that red button. At present, I have only ever pressed it once.

Dude, no need for apologies, it was not you that judged the participating tutorials. You made a good try, of course it was well intended and yes, it required also time and thinking and effort, just like the others' who participated. Even the use of spectator is not your fault but the organizers' fault that didn't think of this.

So, with you all is fair and square. No hard feelings, you can enjoy the prize without any guilt. Seriously. Consider yourself lucky that happened to come across the prize and let's move on. :)

As for DarthvaderjonGTR and chullu, mentioning that their tutorials were really good is the least we can do to morally reward their participation, without any hate / rage / hostility towards you two (the winners)...

It is uncivil to point out that if you were in my shoes, you would feel hurt if others claimed your entry is not worthy? It may not sound pleasant, and that's because it isn't.

I said "I am sure those who entered can also appreciate that" for a reason. Lots of participants put in a lot of effort, and I already know that - that was pointed out to remind you that I am in the same position.

Justifying my entry in public is not a 'small price' I need to pay. I paid the price when putting in time, effort and planning for my entry. Frankly, I am not obliged to explain anything at all - the same applies to all other entrants.

I am not sure that you understand civility. "Maybe I didn't watch your guide closely enough? :(" is not civil, I'm sure you can see that could be taken as pretty insulting.

Anyway, let's continue such discussion in the PM conversation you've started. But do remember that I do not even have to discuss this in the first place (many in my situation would not have wanted to respond after reading posts here), and so please appreciate the fact that I am giving up my time to do so.

[EDIT] The downvote function is used to show when you don't agree with a post, and is a good way of doing so. I use it for this purpose, although I do not use it most of the time either. Is this another thing which I am obliged to do/not to do? I have used the downvote function in each case with reason, you can ask me why I downvote certain posts if you want to ^_^

Goldy don't feel bad. You won, grats now go enjoy your prize, unfollow this topic and ignore :)

To everyone: If someone does PM you about your video insulting it or saying comments like "How did you win," remember you can always just hit the delete button and if they don't stop, there's the block button!! (my favourite along with the emoticons  :D)
