What Now?

 

 

I'm done.

Really, this is it.

I've done enough,

And no one can tell me otherwise.

The good times are gone in all but my mind,

And that's going, too.

Any friends I once knew, left a long time ago.

And now I'm here.

Just here.

No one checks on me,

To see how I'm doing.

I'm just the old one in the corner,

Always there,

Always quiet.

I wasn't always quiet.

I recall so many loud days,

With my comrades.

We'd yell and laugh,

And win.

Oh yes, how we won!

Everything was going for me then,

Friends abound and people everywhere,

Having fun, and more importantly,

Knowing me.

But that's not important anymore.

They've taken away all that I've gotten,

Except the memories.

Pictures are worth a thousand words,

But how can they be worth anything

If there is no one to see them?

I lived them,

I don't need them.

I want them to know.

I wanted them to know.

But they don't care.

I don't care.

And now, I am here.

Just here.

Alone.

What now?
