Fun with the Physics Engine!

Tanki has a great physics engine in general, capable of doing many calculations at a time without much error. However, I've found a couple of glitches/quirks that can be quite entertaining at times. This will be a short article documenting the ones I know of right now.

1. Flipped Disco Tanks!

This one is very easy to do. First, equip Wasp. Find a medium (Hunter, Viking, Dictator) or heavy tank (Titan, Mammoth) that has been completely flipped over. Then, drive on top of it. Once you do, start turning (don't move forward or back). The tank that you're standing on will start spinning quite quickly. Don't get dizzy.

I'm not sure why this happens; perhaps the physics engine works with flipped tanks differently compared to ones that aren't flipped. In addition, it seems like this trick only works when the hull you're using is Wasp and the tank you're spinning on is a medium or heavy tank, for some strange reason. If you try spinning on top of a Wasp, for example, nothing happens.

This has no practical usage, but it's fun to do. In parkour, tanks tend to get flipped a lot, so if a friend needs to self-destruct, you can do this to pass the time.

2. Standing Wasps

To do this, you need a Wasp and a Twins of any modification. Find a sloped wall, like the ones bordering Desert, for example. Drive against the wall until your Wasp is almost vertical. Then, start firing with Twins (make sure your turret is centered). As long as you hold the space bar down, your Wasp will stand straight up on the back of its treads while moving slowly backwards.

Note: I took this screenshot when the Twins was reloading, so you can't see any projectiles.

This works since the back of Wasp's treads are very flat, and in fact almost flat enough to stand up on its own. However, it can't do that by itself, so the tank will eventually come back down on the treads. That's where Twin's very slight recoil comes in handy. Even the recoil of M0 Twins will counterbalance Wasp's weight enough to stay upright indefinitely as long as you long down the space bar.

This also has no practical usage in combat, but it's fun to do. If you gather a bunch of friends to do this together, you can create "fireworks" with all the Twins projectiles streaming into the air. The display is even more stunning if you have different modifications of Twins at work; the light blue of M0, the dark blue of M1, the yellow of M2, and the green of M3 all make a spectacular array of lights in the sky.

I suppose you could also use this for parkour; if you can get quite a few people to pull off this trick, and get someone to drive on top of the barrage of projectiles, you could launch that player up like an elevator.

The second trick can be done without walls using Rico or Smoky and it works for both the front and back of a Wasp. Drive back until achieving full speed then simultaneously press forward and shoot until standing vertical then soot with care just to keep it that way. I always pass time like that when waiting for others to join :D .

I may be wrong but it could be because the coefficient of friction is low in the upper part of the heavy and medium hulls, which makes sense since the upper part of the hull doesn't need any friction for it to move or do anything. Its weird how the light hulls aren't affected by it though.
