Halloween in Tanki Online: how it was

Four community managers, three kilos of makeup and twenty-one terrorized inhabitants of the Tanki office...

Skeleton, Joker, Calavera and Jigsaw invaded the AlternativaPlatform headquarters on a peaceful day. But first things first...

Preparations for Halloween started on Monday. At 9 am, a couple of face artists arrived at the office, carrying dozens of brushes and a strange, spray-painting machine (looked more like a hand-made bomb if you ask me). Creating a good Halloween make up takes two makeup artists at least an hour of hard work and never-ending airbrush (that weird machine I told you about earlier).



Your humble servant became the Joker — the famous green-haired villain with the infamous quote “Why so serious?”. Popping out from behind the corner is fun, but can be quite risky. Our lead programmer Sergey Peretiatko took his fright a little too seriously and kicked me out of his room.



While I was moving to another floor to scare some other guys at Alternativa, our artists heard the noise and managed to take some pics and post them on Instagram. Of course we then had to delete all of them. Spoilers, you know!



In the meantime, the face artists found another victim — Mariya Trusevich, community manager for the German community and my occasional sidekick for the video blogs. At first, she couldn’t make up her mind, but finally decided to become Jigsaw from The Saw movie. Despite being very feminine and kind-looking, Mariya’s appearance turned out to be the scariest!



Russian community manager Maksim Khusainov spent about 2 hours under the paintbrush, with wadding blocking his nose and ears to prevent the paint from getting inside.



To make Max look like a skeleton, the artists had to paint not only his face, but also his arms and legendary shiny top.



Let’s just say that quite a few people in the office began stuttering as they came face to face with Max in the HQ’s corridors and rooms.





Mariya Nemirskaya, our charming Russian V-LOG host, had the most unusual and feminine makeup of us all, the Calavera skull — the legendary symbol of the Mexican Day of the Dead.



While Maksim and Mariya were shooting spooky intros for the Russian video blog, I managed to find my archenemy for the day and dealt with him. That was easy!



Meanwhile, the spookiness was spreading from the office and into the game itself. Barda was covered with darkness and fog, and haunted by dozens of ghosts. Pumpkins appeared in the most unexpected places. This special map was the most popular place over the weekend, having been visited by 3 163 621 tankers!



Our traditional Facebook event called Mammoth Rush suddenly transformed into Zombie Mammoths. Of course it was held on the holiday map too!

By the way, the Halloween forum thread had an easter egg hidden in it. Some of you managed to spot it. For all the rest, here it is!

Halloween Map was epic! had something for everybody, good cover for snipers (esp low light), straight fats runs, good turns, bridges, cliffs... gold pumpkins etc

 

Pls keep this map but tweek it for regular use throughout the year.

Everhing was good, though I experienced a lag which was only in the Halloween map. It was extremely good for snipers, all the spooky things and everything was nice. Although you should have done something like zombies appeared or some flashes like a ghost just passed.
