Berlin - 25 Years Fall of the Berlin Wall

hi,

2014 is a historic year for Berlin. It marks the 25th anniversary of the most significant event in recent German history: The Fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989. The Wall, which was established by East Germany in 1961 and was roughly 96 miles long, split the already-divided country’s capital into West Berlin and East Berlin. After weeks of civil protests, the government of Eastern Germany opened up the partition on Nov. 9, 1989, allowing residents to travel to the west sideibitions and events will take place. But its actual demolition didn't truly begin until the following year, just a few months before Germany would officially reunite.

The Berlin Wall was a barrier that existed between 1961 and 1990, constructed by the German Democratic Republic starting on 13 August 1961, that completely cut off West Berlin from surrounding East

So did they destroy the wall? I ain't too good in history

most of it, but some still stands in Berlin as a memorial. Of course, there are also those random segments in private collections and museums.

Interestingly, the wall material was used to make the streets drivers drive on in Berlin XD.

theres some in apparently mexico and some in Las Vegas or some where here in the US    I think theres also some in Minneapolis ( USA)

yeah quite a few slabs were saved after the fall of the wall and auctioned off to collectors, museums, organizations, etc. If you go on the internet, you can find some for sale. I believe there is one shop on EBAY that has quite a few slabs for sale, including some trademark pieces. Of course, they are all really expensive, going for the $10,000s.

Hmm, unsure that they are actually blocks from the wall...
